How about thast stupid Bitburg visit he made?
Part way down in this reference Bitburg - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia are some intersting points about this visit, such as: This planned visit caused a great deal of anger outside of Germany. Many prominent government officials, U.S. Army officers, and celebrities, protested the planned visit. Concentration camp survivor and author Elie Wiesel spoke out on the topic at an unrelated White House ceremony, saying, "I... implore you to do something else, to find another way, another site. That place, Mr. President, is not your place." 53 senators (including 11 Republicans), signed a letter asking the president to cancel, and 257 representatives (including 84 Republicans) signed a letter urging Chancellor Kohl to withdraw the invitation. Former Army S/Sgt. Jim Hively mailed his World War II decorations, including a silver star and a bronze star, to Reagan in protest. The Ramones recorded the song "My Brain Is Hanging Upside Down (Bonzo Goes to Bitburg)," which alludes to Bedtime for Bonzo and Bonzo Goes to College, two movies from Reagan's film career that co-starred a chimpanzee, and Frank Zappa recorded "Reagan At Bitburg". Robyn Hitchcock's song The President from his album Element of Light also makes reference to the incident. This struck me as a strange reference: EJ388623 - The Controversy over President Reagan's Visit to Bitburg: Strategies of Definition and Redefinition. Abstract: A brief narrative description of the journal article, document, or resource. Examines transformation and transcendence as rhetorical strategies of definition and redefinition, in the controversy surrounding President Reagan's plan to visit the German war cemetery at Bitburg. Contrasts Reagan's scientistic perspective with his opponents' dramatistic perspective, and explores their clash in three dimensions: time, space, and judgment. |

city boy by residence, country boy by heart
Tul, while I'm not there this time, I love Yellowstone...some of my fondest memories of personal adventures were when I was there for a week by myself, mid Spring before the tourists arrived and the place was just barely starting to wake up from Winter. OK, where in the world am I? ...since we've been dancing in the WH, I am in fact in the WH. |

coldhands, Montserrat is not in the Bahamas.
unc, not San Salvadore...this is a natural geologic feature, not a town/city/building or other man-made thing. Tul, all of the Bahamas are south of the 40. In fact, the Bahamas are all south of the 30. |
