goose flats park, california?

Tully Mars 10-13-2008 03:02 AM

Are you in Oregon?

Hey Nick, the Flight Deck is one of my favorites. As I kid my dad would take me out to breakfast there every year for my birthday. Later on as a paperboy in Salem I sold the most new subscriptions one time and won a 45 min ride in a Cesnna. I was 12-13 and the pilot let me steer it around for a while. Those two things probably had a lot to do with me getting my private license years later. After I got my licenses I flew down there from Astoria one year to meet my dad there for breakfast on his birthday. Turns out the boy brother's roommate's girlfriend from years ago was, maybe still is, the manager. Small world.

BadNick 10-13-2008 03:44 AM

Tul, I just stumbled on that Flight Deck info but it sounded like a neat place that I would like and I'm sure gd "should" be there whether she knows it or not...that's an interesting story you have about it, and nice memories.

The Flight Deck is owned by the flight ops at SLE. They're one of many smaller airports that offer a "loaner" meaning if you call ahead and reserve it they have a car you can use free of charge. Most of the time there's a fueling requirement, meaning you have to fuel your plane to use the car. But you're likely going to need the gas anyway. Sometimes these vehicles are pretty nice, other times no so much. Spokane used to have an old police car, think it was a 1978 Impala. South Lake Tahoe used to have newer Toyota 4-Runner with leather seats etc... But as long as it runs, frees a very good price.

girldetective 10-13-2008 07:08 AM

You all on the right map. I am in Oregon, although not at the Flight Deck restaurant.

What in the world am I looking at? I certainly dont need my magnifying glass to see this thing!

BadNick 10-13-2008 07:54 AM

Oregon Dunes?

gd, is this you jumping for joy?

http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...ebc9d67d71.jpg

Tully Mars 10-13-2008 07:56 AM

Mt. Hood

girldetective 10-13-2008 08:26 AM

Nope and nope.

I was jumping for joy, but I have landed
along with the thing Im looking at.

BadNick 10-13-2008 10:29 AM

Well, I've been searching balloon rides, blimp rides, rides on lawnchairs lifted by helium balloons ...but nothing ...except this just popped into my head:

Are you at the Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum in McMinnville, Oregon?....home of the Spruce Goose? ...your cryptic allusions to grey and vodka made me think "goose" or "she's nuts" so I went with the goose ;)

Models comparing the Spruce Goose to a DC-3:
http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...cegoosedc3.jpg

Now, now? ...can I belt down a nice cold shot of straight vodka? ...Na Zdrowie!

girldetective 10-13-2008 10:55 AM

Thats right. In McMinnville you can see the Goose, and drink the Goose. I saw the Spruce Goose arrive at its hanger, coming right down the street.

Youre up, badboy!

BadNick 10-13-2008 11:26 AM

damn, I'm impressed that you're there, gd. That's one cool plane. I bet Tul tells us he flew it back in the day ;)

OK, where the hell am I this time?

uncle phil 10-13-2008 12:55 PM

NH?

BadNick 10-13-2008 01:10 PM

yes, NH

uncle phil 10-13-2008 01:35 PM

WH?

BadNick 10-13-2008 03:43 PM

uncle phil 10-13-2008 03:44 PM

Tully Mars 10-13-2008 03:49 PM

Asia?

girldetective 10-13-2008 06:45 PM

Polynesia?

BadNick 10-13-2008 08:06 PM

no
yes
no

...so yes, I'm in Asia...and not an island, on the mainland.

uncle phil 10-14-2008 02:25 AM

landlocked country?

Tully Mars 10-14-2008 02:31 AM

China?

BadNick 10-14-2008 03:54 AM

not landlocked, unc...and as Tul guessed correctly, yes I'm in China.

At this point I want to mention that I'm on a man-made thing, not a natural object or place though of course it is located in the natural environment of China.

uncle phil 10-14-2008 04:36 AM

city?

BadNick 10-14-2008 06:08 AM

No, not related to any one city, but this thing connects many cities....and it's not the Great Wall.

girldetective 10-14-2008 06:09 AM

Youre not on the Three Gorges dam are you, badboy?

BadNick 10-14-2008 06:13 AM

gd, your guess holds no water...I'm not on Three Gorges.
