Did anyone say you were in a city?

I'll say the isle of Kahului, on some kind of path toward a volcano.

tully: no
jetee: no, wrong island

(Which movie should I rent, Flipper?)

Oh, wait I got it! Pearl Harbor.

ItWasMe 08-12-2008 06:33 PM

jetee: no, but not too far away.

EDIT: Jetee and I posted at the same time. The 'not far away' answer was to O'ahu.

Pearl Harbor is correct!

Your turn, Bunny!

Jetée 08-12-2008 06:37 PM

Not even the post-guess?

If you are on one of the islands, yet not on O'ahu, the main, or Hawai'i, the next logical guess would be Maui, or perhaps Kauaʻi... but I really want you to be on Molokai; I love the archipelagos.

Hm... Maui?

ItWasMe 08-12-2008 06:42 PM

Jetee, I think you missed the part where I said YOU WON! :D

Jetée 08-12-2008 06:52 PM

Oh... well :oogle:

I guess we missed a step there.

A little history on behalf of Pearl Harbor, provided by one of my favorite pubications worldwide, Nat'l Geo: Beyond the Movie: Pearl Harbor

I cannot hope to speak the volumes in which they address the issue, but here is a tiny sampling of what to find.

Quote:

8. WHAT HAPPENED IN THE MONTHS AFTER PEARL HARBOR?

The three U.S. aircraft carriers in the Pacific were not in or near Pearl Harbor on December 7. Those carriers would soon go on the offensive.

In May 1942 code breakers predicted that a Japanese invasion force, including four Japanese aircraft carriers, was headed toward the Midway Islands, a key base for the defense of Hawaii.

In the Battle of Midway, the turning point of the Pacific War, U.S. carrier aircraft found the Japanese fleet that was heading for the islands and sank all four of its carriers. Each of those four carriers was among the six that had attacked Pearl Harbor.

Before the war ended in August 1945, the U.S. Navy would also sink the other two Japanese aircraft carriers that launched planes against Pearl Harbor.

Except for the battleships Arizona, Utah, and Oklahoma, every ship that had been sunk or damaged at Pearl Harbor on December 7 returned to sea. None of the ships rehabilitated at Pearl Harbor, however, saw action until 1943; by then they had missed the crucial battles of 1942 and early 1943--Coral Sea, Midway, Solomons, and Santa Cruz. The restored battleships were used almost exclusively to bombard shorelines during amphibious operations.

When Japan signed the papers of surrender on September 2, 1945, the West Virginia, a symbol of the resurrection of the Pearl Harbor fleet, was among the U.S. warships in Tokyo Bay.
Very nice round there, and a suitable destination to end up in. Hail History!

Okay, you can start guessing, but it'll be be a little while until I firmly grasp my toes on where exactly I am; so, can you accurately divine where my being is residing on this Planet Earth?

Tully Mars 08-12-2008 06:58 PM
