south of the 40
Arizona?
landlocked state?
no & no
Florida?
Stick, not Florida.
Earlier on I answered Zook that I'm in the western half of North America, so definitely west of the Mississippi, our beloved Mrs. But yes in the USA as I replied to unc earlier. Back to the hunt. |
californicatia?
oh, yes, do it again...now you're coming the right way
where I am in CA is sort of related to something in the news recently, not directly but as another "superlative" example, as I'm wont to do in this thread. |
south of san francisco?
yes, and a bit east of it...not that you could go too far west :)
are you near a sporting complex?
Zook, I just looked around here and didn't see anything like that. In any case, where I am has nothing to do with sports.
I was thinking world cup.... soccer
So, SE of SF... San Jose? |
I thought you thought that, but you thought wrong.
Not San Jose. Go about 240'ish more miles S.E. Look for something that reminds you of current news reports. |
Dunno about over there, but here, it's either been the 40% mining tax increase, or the BP saga...
On hwy 395? |
near santa barbara?
Quote:
unc, also north of Santa Barbara. |
south of 166?
no, just about NE of it
ford city?
very close but go a little more toward I-5 and search for something that reminds us of the current BP fiasco
are you on gas company road?
Close but no cigar for you, unc. My sources say this place is on Petroleum Club Rd.
so you're in taft?
very close, but slightly east:
"...about a half-mile east of the Taft-Maricopa Highway, State Route 33..." The name of this place is noted for what is here that caused its significance, so it's not a town name. |
i'm right there but i don't see nuttin'...
Stop looking at that nice ass and look at the ground. Do you see a lot of oil impregnated soil? There is a historic marker mentioning this place and the event that took place right here in the early 1900's. I'll jump up and down so maybe you'll see me.
la brea tar pits? i thought they were in los angeles...
They probably are, since I don't see them around here. This place is related to oil, as in oil wells, oil production, etc. and then connected in a way to the BP disaster.
midway - sunset?
nope. I hope you guys don't let this be the first "I give up" in this game...would it be? I haven't looked back thru it all. You are so close.
Think about this, I'll lay it out again: you are in an oil field where lots of oil drilling has taken place, starting way back in the early 1900's. Then "oops" something unexpected and real bad happened. On a worldwide scale of all time bad events of this sort, this one right here ranks way up there. |
So, an oil spill of some sort... so must be an old well?
yes, Zook. I'm in an oil field where something bad of a superlative magnitude happened many years ago.
Bingo! I'm gushing with pleasure that you finally found me, unc. You're up.
Since you already posted the Lakeview Gusher link, I'll just add this interesting one I found while trying to put the current BP fiasco into a magnitude perspective: Oil spill - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2.../oilspills.jpg Depending on the final tally, who knows where the current gusher will end up but I don't have a good feeling about it. |
i'll find someplace today...
that was a tough one, nick... |
thanks, and quite relevant to the BP-caused tragedy we're now dealing with.
ok, where am i?
Are you north of the equator?
yes...
