That I Do!

Quote:
The last time Volcán Irazú awoke was in the first half of the 1960's, when, for four years it showered the residents of Cartago and San José with ash, clogged the air with smoke, and sent glowing boulders rolling down its sides. Today, as you travel along the southern slope of the volcano to the park, the potato, onion, and cabbage fields give way to dairy farms at higher elevations. The next eruption can't be predicted with much accuracy, but currently the only activity in the crater is from fumaroles releasing toxic steam.
Good catch You're up!

Apparently the volcano gods might not be Democrats:

"...Its most famous recent eruption began in 1963 and continued until 1965. It began on the day US President John F. Kennedy started a state visit to Costa Rica and showered the capital San José and much of the central highlands of Costa Rica with ash..."

I need to explore that part of the world pretty soon. In the meantime, I'll post back as soon as I find my next place to hide.

Great guess, Tul! I'm impressed with your spontaneous intuition although I'm not anywhere in NYC. Last time I was on that 2nd floor was when I was a Boy Scout and our troop visited NYC. We went up to the tippy top of the Empire State Bldg which at that time was the tallest building in the world. This was in 1961 when both Maris and Mantle were chasing Babe Ruth's homerun record. So even more memorably, we saw a Yankees game with Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris both hitting home runs! And even though Yogi Berra didn't hit any homers that day, I'm sure he said a lot of cool stuff like "I always thought that record would stand until it was broken."

Related a bit closer to where I am this time, Yogi might have said something like: "I'm not going to buy my kids an encyclopedia. Let them walk to school like I did." That's about the only Yogi'ism I could find about shopping.

My favorite Yogism is the one where he goes to buy a pizza and the guy behind the counter asked "How pieces do ya want it cut into?"... "Just two I'm not that hungry."

So not in or on the sofa, guys. amonkie asked about Hong Kong and I told her she was in the right neighborhood, so I'm over in that part of the world.

ok, so I was a little too much into April Fools ...now that it's almost over, we can get back to our previously scheduled program.

amonkie, you found me again. Yes, I'm at the New South China Mall. I hope you brought your own credit card to shop at the largest mall in the world ...at least by some measures:

New South China Mall (simplified Chinese: 新华南MALL; pinyin: xinhuánán MALL) in Dongguan, China is the largest mall in the world based on gross leasable area, and ranked second in total area to the Dubai Mall.

This part is "telling", it might be just you and me here, monkie: Notably, it has been 99% vacant since its 2005 opening.

The mall has seven zones modeled on international cities, nations and regions, including Amsterdam, Paris, Rome, Venice, Egypt, the Caribbean, and California. Features include an 85-foot (25 m.) replica of the Arc de Triomphe, a replica of Venice's St Mark's bell tower, a 1.3 mile (2.1 km) canal with gondolas, and an 1880 ft. long (553-meter) indoor-outdoor roller coaster.

I do like noodles: The project was spearheaded by Hu Guirong (Alex Hu), who became a billionaire in the instant noodle industry.

You're up, amonkie.
