Piled Festoon Hill?
Located by the Li River north of Guilin, Piled Festoon Hill is so named because it has eroded on all sides exposing the strata and creating the impression of piles of silk. The hill consists of Yuyue Hill, Siwang Hill, Crane Peak and at 223 meters, the tallest Bright Moon Peak. The site has been a tourist attraction for over a 1,000 years and tourists come to enjoy the many inscriptions and Buddhist sculptures mostly dating from the Sui and Tang dynasties (518-907AD). Some of the damage to these historical relics is a legacy of more recent Chinese history, the Cultural Revolution. In recent weeks, the Chinese government's heavy-handed censorship of Google and other sites, along with allegations of the Chinese government's role in hacking large computer systems in search of "trouble makers", is another recent example of a huge pile of festoon. ...ok, I added that last sentence myself. So if you think I'm being a big dick, I offer you this place called Cappadocia in central Turkey. |

^omg, hahaha
...amonkie!! You got it! You're turn now! You posted a great photo of it too...below are more photos of Guilin,China where Elephant Trunk Hill is centrally located in the city. __________________________________________ Elephant Trunk Hill is located on the western bank of Li River in Guilin located in the Guangxi region of china. The shape of the hill is just like a huge elephant drinking water from the river with its trunk, so it is called Elephant Trunk Hill. Shui Yue Cave (Water Moon Cave) is between the trunk and the legs, which is a semi-round cave penetrated by water. The inverted reflection of the cave in water plus the part above forms a full moon. This phenomenon is unique and many laudatory inscriptions were found on the wall inside the cave. Visitors can boat through the cave to the river. The most impressive is said to be the water reflection of the moon-like cave when the moonlight sprinkles over the river, hence the name 'Moon over the Water'. Another cave regarded as the eyes of the elephant lies in the hillside. It provides tourists an ideal position to enjoy the panoramic view of Guilin. On the top of the hill is a two-storey pagoda built in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) surrounded by green trees. The north seat of the second floor is inlaid with an image of Bodhisattva Puxian. The pagoda looks like a precious vase on the back of an elephant seen from distance and many beautiful legends about the pagoda. __________________________________________ Boat Trip: A boat trip from Guilin along the Lijiang River presents one of the finest excursions in China. The journey downstream to Yangshuo offers 30 miles of breathtaking scenery. One of the first points of interest is the pagoda-capped Elephant Trunk Hill, or Xiangbishan, long used as the symbol of Guilin. A little further downstream you will pass, on your left, Baotashan with a Ming Dynasty pagoda on top. East of it stands Chuanshan, or the Hill with a Hole. Then begins a series of beautiful scenes that unfold as you glide away from Guilin on your journey south. Coming close to the Erlang Gorge, a huge cliff comes into view. This is the famous "Picture Hill" that resembles horses of different colors in different positions. On the right, after passing Picture Hill, is Huangbu (Yellow Cloth) Beach. Here the river is wide and flows gently. Seven graceful peaks are likened to seven quiet young girls standing shoulder to shoulder. The fabled Xingping Wonderland begins here. Xingping is a famous, ancient town. Caishi Hill looms high in front of the town, with thick bamboo groves in the back. The cruise ends at the colorful market town of Yangshuo. __________________________________________

I'm not in Sydney but you've got the right side of the country..
This housekeeping is relatively recent compared to how long I've been around. Anyone else smell flowers?

are you at a flower show in Brisbane? I'm seeing a few flower shows going on around now, just past or coming up soon. I love orchids so this caught my eye: Queensland International Orchid Fair

Getting closer... If you follow the Brisbane River away from Kangaroo Point and the Gardens, you'd be getting very close.

The only connection I can find of "To Wong Foo" to Brisbane is that the author is from Brisbane and made a cameo appearance in the movie...so are you at a theater?

I'm pretty close to the Botanic Garden, so keep trying.
If you're not careful ... you might meet a ghost or two when you get here.
