BadNick 12-05-2009 05:08 PM

amonkie 12-05-2009 05:18 PM

Another yup...you're on a roll.

Only place to go is up.

BadNick 12-05-2009 05:44 PM

amonkie 12-05-2009 06:11 PM

That is a negative...

BadNick 12-05-2009 06:42 PM

dammit! I guess I have trust issues.

In a coastal state?

amonkie 12-05-2009 06:45 PM

Nope... no coast for me. There's a little too much smog in the coast.. the airs a little clearer here.

BadNick 12-05-2009 06:57 PM

r u 'n Montana?

amonkie 12-05-2009 07:16 PM

Nope... but now i'm in the mood for some buffalo wild wings. Never been there actually...

BadNick 12-05-2009 07:34 PM

I saw a lot of buffalo in Wyoming... r u der?

amonkie 12-05-2009 07:50 PM

Nope sorry, that wasn't a clue. I was just hungry, lol.

hmm... what can I say to help. It feels like I've got a dam in my head that is stopping my train of thought.

uncle phil 12-06-2009 03:10 AM

u da ho?

amonkie 12-06-2009 07:20 AM

Nope nope not there either.

BadNick 12-06-2009 09:34 AM

amonkie 12-06-2009 09:53 AM

Yes... I am coloring in the lines with much ado. I would love to have a glass of water.

uncle phil 12-06-2009 10:19 AM

chrystal dam?

amonkie 12-06-2009 06:21 PM

Nope.. not at Crystal Dam.

But, guessing the right dam will get you closer to my actual location.

uncle phil 12-07-2009 03:17 AM

blue mesa dam?

amonkie 12-07-2009 03:20 AM

Nope.

The dam that will be helpful can be a little noisier than others given its location.

uncle phil 12-07-2009 03:21 AM

chatfield?

BadNick 12-07-2009 05:17 AM

oohhh, that chat sounds about right, unc.

amonkie 12-07-2009 06:05 AM

Nope.... but I did fly into Denver to begin the trek to here. in a 74 Toyota Pickup that couldn't go faster than 55...

uncle phil 12-07-2009 06:21 AM

I've got the song Cry Me a River in my head... but its a White Forest out there with all the snow.

BadNick 12-07-2009 09:57 AM

are you near Vail and white water rafting down the White River?

http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...ngnearVail.jpg

uncle phil 12-07-2009 10:18 AM

lawn lake?

amonkie 12-07-2009 10:33 AM

White River is getting closer... In the forest but not the River.

From the area near one of the most expensive highway tunnels built, you can take a climb ... if you do you'll find me here taking in the view.

uncle phil 12-07-2009 11:07 AM

mcphee reservoir?

BadNick 12-07-2009 01:26 PM

are you in the Loveland Ski Area?

amonkie 12-07-2009 05:37 PM

Phil was closest with Dillon - Keep following the 70 west....

BadNick 12-07-2009 07:46 PM

Are you on the mountain overlooking the Eisenhower Tunnel?

I think the Dillon Reservoir is just west of where the highway exits the Eisenhower Tunnel

According to waymarking:
The Eisenhower Memorial Tunnel is located approximately sixty miles west of Denver, Colorado on Interstate 70. It is the highest vehicular tunnel in the world, located at an elevation of 11,013 feet at the East Portal and 11,158 feet at the West Portal. The Tunnel traverses through the Continental Divide at an average elevation of 11,112 feet...The Eisenhower-Johnson Memorial Tunnel (EJMT) was, for its time, a groundbreaking feat of engineering planning and design. The construction of I-70 and the EJMT through the Rocky Mountains was a major accomplishment toward the completion of the Interstate Highway System. It was the nation's most expensive highway project up to that point and remains the world's longest (at 1.7 miles) and highest (over 11,000 feet) underground thoroughfare. The EJMT stands as one of the great engineering achievements of 20th century highway design.

Here's standing on a peak overlooking the Dillon Reservoir with the town of Frisco visible down on the reservoir.

morrow point?

amonkie 12-08-2009 03:33 AM

Definitely getting hotter, Badnick!

I am at a lake who's trailhead begins of the 70 ... and its not my fault that geology decided to fall out from under me and leaving me hanging!

uncle phil 12-08-2009 03:49 AM

ridgeway dam?

BadNick 12-08-2009 06:55 AM

so I found Hanging Lake, Colorado...looks like a beautiful spot to hike but it seems too far west Hanging Lake, Colorado

---------- Post added at 09:55 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:49 AM ----------

my ongoing search turned up another reasonable guess:

Lake Uneva (apparently a private lake) ...which you can get a great view of from Mt. Victoria

Mt. Victoria - hiking in Summit County Colorado

amonkie 12-08-2009 07:00 AM

Hanging Lake is Correct!

All i remember is the Eisenhower Tunnel and then our next stop being Hanging Lake trailhead. When you're only going 55 and everyone else is whizzing by... distance is kind of irrelevant, LOL.

One of my favorite places to hike ... and my fav picture of the trek:

And just before you take the final climb to the lake you can veer left and see Spouting Rock..
