The dam that will be helpful can be a little noisier than others given its location. |

White River is getting closer... In the forest but not the River.
From the area near one of the most expensive highway tunnels built, you can take a climb ... if you do you'll find me here taking in the view. |
mcphee reservoir?
|
are you in the Loveland Ski Area?
|
Phil was closest with Dillon - Keep following the 70 west....
|
Are you on the mountain overlooking the Eisenhower Tunnel?
I think the Dillon Reservoir is just west of where the highway exits the Eisenhower Tunnel According to waymarking: The Eisenhower Memorial Tunnel is located approximately sixty miles west of Denver, Colorado on Interstate 70. It is the highest vehicular tunnel in the world, located at an elevation of 11,013 feet at the East Portal and 11,158 feet at the West Portal. The Tunnel traverses through the Continental Divide at an average elevation of 11,112 feet...The Eisenhower-Johnson Memorial Tunnel (EJMT) was, for its time, a groundbreaking feat of engineering planning and design. The construction of I-70 and the EJMT through the Rocky Mountains was a major accomplishment toward the completion of the Interstate Highway System. It was the nation's most expensive highway project up to that point and remains the world's longest (at 1.7 miles) and highest (over 11,000 feet) underground thoroughfare. The EJMT stands as one of the great engineering achievements of 20th century highway design. Here's standing on a peak overlooking the Dillon Reservoir with the town of Frisco visible down on the reservoir. http://alumni.indiana.edu/chapters/d...hoto2004_8.jpg |

I am at a lake who's trailhead begins of the 70 ... and its not my fault that geology decided to fall out from under me and leaving me hanging! |
ridgeway dam?
|
so I found Hanging Lake, Colorado...looks like a beautiful spot to hike but it seems too far west Hanging Lake, Colorado
---------- Post added at 09:55 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:49 AM ---------- my ongoing search turned up another reasonable guess: Lake Uneva (apparently a private lake) ...which you can get a great view of from Mt. Victoria Mt. Victoria - hiking in Summit County Colorado http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...Victoria10.jpg |
Hanging Lake is Correct!
All i remember is the Eisenhower Tunnel and then our next stop being Hanging Lake trailhead. When you're only going 55 and everyone else is whizzing by... distance is kind of irrelevant, LOL. One of my favorite places to hike ... and my fav picture of the trek: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...e/DSC00057.jpg And just before you take the final climb to the lake you can veer left and see Spouting Rock.. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...e/00630020.jpg You're Up Badnick! |
