Since I just noticed this new notice at top of page, maybe I'll sneak in an application of it here:
Sometimes an important part of mature discussion - which is what we do around here - is being honest with ourselves and each other. Calling someone's statement a lie is not a flame or punishable. You are not required to believe something you know is bullshit. So go ahead and call it when you see it - just be polite about it. The statement's the thing, not the person. Tul, that is total bullshit! nope...unless continental plate tectonics may have moved Italy into Asia since I studied geography. Tul, you might need a hit of nice clean oxygen. what the hell is this coming to, a Shell game? Good hunting, Shell, you found me. Your turn to go hide.
...yes I am in Petra that cool rock place in Jordan that was made famous by being featured in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade ...in case it wasn't famous before that or if you're not into that genre of film maybe you'd prefer its appearance in Passion in the Desert, or maybe even Mortal Kombat: Annihilation, or the one that made me wish I was Sinbad, Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger, or if you're from the MTV generation and only watch music videos, maybe you saw it in the Sisters of Mercy music video "Dominion", and of course there's the soon to be released Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, not to mention if you live only in the Game World you would see it in video games Spy Hunter (2001), King's Quest V, Lego Indiana Jones and least but probably not last Sonic Unleashed Petra ("petra-πέτρα", cleft in the rock in Greek; Arabic: البتراء, Al-Batrāʾ) is an archaeological site in the Arabah, Ma'an Governorate, Jordan, lying on the slope of Mount Hor in a basin among the mountains which form the eastern flank of Arabah (Wadi Araba), the large valley running from the Dead Sea to the Gulf of Aqaba. It is renowned for its rock-cut architecture. Petra is also one of the new wonders of the world. The Nabateans constructed it as their capital city around 100 BCE. The site remained unknown to the Western world until 1812, when it was introduced to the West by Swiss explorer Johann Ludwig Burckhardt. It was famously described as "a rose-red city half as old as time" in a Newdigate prize-winning sonnet by John William Burgon. UNESCO has described it as "one of the most precious cultural properties of man's cultural heritage." In 1985, Petra was designated a World Heritage Site. Too many cool pics of this place so I'm just randomly throwing some on here: This makes me hungry for some good humus tahini so I'll be back after I get some You're up, Shell Last edited by BadNick; 05-30-2009 at 07:54 AM.. |

Shell, yep I got some. There is a little Armenian store near where I live that has all sorts of ethnic stuff from around that part of the world, and they also have home-made baked goods and food stuffs...so I got a container of their hummus and tahini and I have some great olive oil and fresh parsley...just missed the garbonzo's....I like that word and would consider naming my next male child "Garbonzo". Of course this just wetted my appetite so for lunch today I had a Greek gyro and man, was that good!

Alaska?
I've eaten baba ganoush many times, but never been in a restaurant by that name. But there's a little chain of restaurants called Maoz and one on South St. in Philly, they have really great falafel treats; last night I even mentioned Maoz to my wife since I was in the mood for some of their stuff, but we ended up doing something else. I think there is such a high likelyhood of a successful Maoz in my neighborhood that I sent away for their franchise info...but it seems to me they want too much for it so I'm on hold with that idea. Here's some Maoz pics I've posted before: Last edited by BadNick; 05-31-2009 at 07:55 AM.. |

...Tully, yes
...Nick, no ...yummy pics of ganoush, Nick, but actually, ...i meant Baba Ghannouj as far as the name of the meditteranean bistro chain (from the eggplant dish by the same name) ... http://www.babaghannouj.net/896622.html

I thought maybe Jimmy Buffett was playing a concert in Alaska or someplace cold, but I haven't found a concert date there to substantiate that theory. But I did find this pic of a great 20 lb. class Kenai River rainbow trout...probably taste good with some beer:
Then I was wondering if that clue might lead me to a frozen Margaritaville...but I think I still haven't found you yet...but I'm having fun Are you in Canada? |
