fun at work if you work in cubicles with computers
ok, if you work in an office where everyone has a computer on thier desk and you are all close enough to hear each other's computers when turned up really loud....
1. turn your speakers up really loud. 2. google a word that sounds funny. i like to use "garbonzo" 3. click the blue "definition" link in the top right hand corner. 4. click on the pronunciation. 5. repeat step 4 a few more times. if you want to take this a step further (as i did) open two browsers and google two words. like..."blow" and "job" and go to town. you can have insult fights with each other. it's fun. if you know someone with itunes on thier computer, do this when they are not around, or just show them how fun it is. itunes will put it on thier ipod and they will be listening to something awesome, then randomly, they will hear "garbonzo." it's worth it. seriously, try it....

If hearing computers say words out loud is funny to you (it is to me), check out Dictionaraoke.org - The Singing Dictionary. Take a MIDI track of a popular song, type all the words into a speaking dictionary, then sync them together. It's amazing how little soul a song can have. For dirty words, try Closer by Nine Inch Nails (animals within animals). For words piling on top of each other, try All Star by Smash Mouth (pimpdaddysupreme).

That reminds me of the very early days of Windows and Compuserve.
When I learned how to set wave files to system events, I thought it would be fun to download a bunch of wave sound bites from 2001: A Space Odessy ("I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that") and Terminator 2 ("Asta la Vista, Baby","I'll be back") and link them to system events. So the sound bite I set for the Windows operating system error was Arnord Swarzenegger as the Terminator saying "Fuck you, asshole!" I was amused until I was having hardware trouble one day. As the errror messages popped up the computer repeatedly said in it's Arnold voice, "Fuck you, asshole! Fuck you, asshole! Fuck you, asshole! Fuck you, asshole! Fuck you, asshole! Fuck you, asshole!" Needless to say once I got it sorted out I set all the sounds back to the defaults. |
