Aitutaki Island (Cook Islands)
http://media-cdn.tripadvisor.com/med...oot-island.jpg Aitutaki Island is a triangular-shaped 'almost'-atoll rising up 4000 metres from the floor of the Pacific Ocean. It consists of three volcanic and 12 coral islets (motu). Polynesians probably first settled Aitutaki around AD 900. The first known European contact was with Captain Bligh and the crew of the "HMS Bounty" when they discovered Aitutaki on April 11, 1789, prior to the infamous mutiny. Aitutaki was the first of the Cook Islands to accept Christianity, after London Missionary Society (LMS) missionary John Williams visited in 1821. The oldest church in the country, the Cook Islands Christian Church in Arutanga, was built by Papeiha (Borabora) and Vahapata (Raiatea), two LMS teachers Williams had left behind. |
man, you just had to post one of the few things that scares me; things that interfere with eyes.

six men
http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...n_elephant.jpg The Buddha here tells the story of a king who had six blind men gathered together to examine an elephant. "When the blind men had each felt a part of the elephant, the king went to each of them and said to each: 'Well, blind man, have you seen the elephant? Tell me, what sort of thing is an elephant. The six blind men assert the elephant is either like a pot (the blind man who felt the elephants' head), wicket basket (ear), ploughshare (tusk), plough (trunk), granary (body), pillar (foot), mortar (back), pestle (tail) or brush (tip of the tail). The men cannot agree with one another and come to blows over the question of what an elephant really is like, and this delights the king. The Buddha ends the story of the king and compares the six blind men to preachers and scholars who are blind and ignorant and hold to their own views: "Just so are these preachers and scholars holding various views blind and unseeing.... In their ignorance they are by nature quarrelsome, wrangling, and disputatious, each maintaining reality is thus and thus." The Buddha then speaks the following verse: O how they cling and wrangle, some who claim For preacher and monk the honored name! For, quarreling, each to his view they cling. Such folk see only one side of a thing. |
Nice story, Nick. One problem: the portrayal has one (two) many men in it??

http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...-01-800-75.jpg Jet, There is probably some Zen reason why the six men story shows 8 men in the picture...maybe one is Buddha and one is the King so all men(tioned) in the story are shown in the picture...I just made that up. |

Most people, including me, usually call them radiators but they are almost totally "convectors" with not much radiating heat output
