Quebec Votes 2007
 

In case you were not aware, Quebec is having their Provicial election on Monday March 26.

The three major parties are the:
- Parti Quebecois (PQ) - Andre Boisclair
- Liberals (this is not the same as the federal Liberals) - Jean Charest
- Action Democratique (ADQ) - Mario Dumont

The Liberals are probably as Federalist as a party can be in Quebec by at least not being interested in separation. The PQ are seperatists (or sovreignists) and the ADQ is not clear but I think the general consensus is that they lean closer to the PQ then the Liberals with respect to this issue.

The latest polls show that Quebec is heading towards a minority governement with the Liberals having the most seats and teh ADQ holding the balance of Power.

The Liberals (the incumbent) just got some nice gifts from Harper in the Federal Budget.

Only a few days left.

urgh... I am sick of hearing about this on the news. (I'm in ontario..) Sometimes i wished they would seperate, get fucked up and need to come back. Then we could stop this nonsense.

I've heard what most of the leaders had to say and the PQ and Liberal look the best for now. ADQ don't seem sure.

Quebec and the city of Montreal lost a lot with separation hanging over their head since the early 80s. We (at least 51% last count) don't like it either.

Funny, we hardly hear a peep about the Quebec elections here in BC.

this could bode well for the federal elections.

Actually they could still be the Official Opposition, it depends how the governemtn is made up.
The ADQ are expected to steal seats from the Liberals and the PQ.

Alot of silly things are being said
Dumont says that he won't work with either party if there is a minority govt
Boisclair says that even if he wins with only a minority he is going to push for separation.

Sophie Fréchette is the PQ candidate in a riding right near mine.
She was previously a Bloc Candidate in the last federal election. She lost.
She really doesn't have much of a chance again as she is running in a riding that is a very high percentage English and will likely support the Liberals.

I pass her campaign poster on the way home everyday.
I would "vote" for her anyday.

Well I'm sure that if Charest wins a majority or not, the federal funds will be busting at the seams.

I wonder when Harper will start bribing the have-nots at the municipal level.

The funds came busting in with the Budget.
Charest was already saying that he would pass on the money to the people and Dumont said (if I remember correctly) that he would give MTL taxation powers that TO has.

Wow...there was one big surprise that nobody predicted.

ADQ Will do better than last time: Predicted

ADQ will increase their seats 8 fold from 5 to 41: Definately not predicted
ADQ will be the official opposition: Definately not predicted
