Nope. I live in the state of Yucatan and it is the safest in the county. All the money used to make Cancun and the resorts there came from here. All the money made there returns here, mostly anyway. The gangs are on notice to keep out of here and since it really wouldn't help them location wise, they don't bother fighting here.
