Paying bills online @ TD Canada Trust

Just a question to those who are TD customer and pay Visa bills online, I got a quick question regarding that subject.

I just got my first visa card few weeks ago and I know I'm gonna get my first bill anytime soon and I plan to pay it online via easyline. I looked through paying bills and when I added TD Visa as the payee and the website took me to a page where it ask me to enter the account number. What do I put in this textbox? My visa card number or my bank account number??

Also, does it matter if I pay back my credits, even if I didn't get the bill yet?

if TD Canada is any relation to TD Bank North - then when it asks for the account number it's the account number of your Visa card first- it's got to first set up the payee account... then you will be prompted for your bank account number and pin number usually.

I would wait untill you get your first bill, that will clearly show your account number so there is no mistake made. In regards to pre-paying your card - I do it all the time. I will make a purchase and then transfer money onto the card to cover.

Also, I would personally do transfers onto your visa card rather than pay bill, if you pay bill it can take a week for the payment to be reflected in your balance, whereas if you do a transfer the money is credited to your account immediately.

Your visa account should be listed automatically.

This transfer method of payment is a good idea, especially if you are on the last day of the interest free period to make a payment. There is no delay in the update.

The downside of transfers, though, seems to be that the payment history is not listed on the account history page. But that maybe peculiar to the bank. I use Royal Bank, not Toronto Dominion.

One more thing to be wary of: I recently received a new client card from the Royal Bank, which is the same colour as my Visa, instead of the old blue colour. I accidentally stuck my visa into the bank machine, thinking it was my client card, and withdrew $100 for petty cash. This of course ended up as being a cash advance on my Visa. Cash advance transactions start charging interest from the moment they are withdrawn or credited. I transfered money back to my Visa immediately upon discovering my mistake (within 45 seconds of the withdrawal) but it still cost me about $7 in interest! So don't be dumb like me. It's a good thing that I read my chit, otherwise I would have walked out of there, oblivious!

$7 for taking out money and then re-depositing it. Go to a teller and tell them you want your money back. That's a rip off

I only use TD for a line of credit and a small account I have for savings. My credit cards are with CIBC and American Express. I don't have much patience for TD bank. Was a long time client with mutual funds and various investments until they finally pissed me off for the 100th time. I pulled everything out and said bye bye.

It didn't help their cause also that they froze my bank account 5 times when after the first time it was made clear to them that they had the wrong person and wrong account, something they acknowledged the first time it happened. Nothing quite like being on vacation in the US and the quant bistro a little out of the way doesnt accept Visa or American Express and your bank has frozen your debit card for the fifth time.Morons

Hope you have better luck

I have the exact same set up with TD (I also have the Visa). Your 'Account Number' is the Visa number.

Set up the Payee with the card's number and you're good to go.

Well, I got the bill via mail and found out that the account number is actually the visa card number. I am intriguted by the idea of just simply transferring from my chequing account into the credit card account but for now, I'll stick to paying bills via the payee thingy.
