I don't know if changing medical technologies have changed this, but... Ten years ago, knowingly infecting someone with HIV was First Degree Murder. People were convicted. Knowingly infecting someone with some other STD could almost certainly bring charges of assault.

I actually heard about someone who wanted revenge on a cheating bf, got a STD that could be cured in it's early stage (I don't remember which) and gave it to it's SO. True? I don't know, but it's messed up even to think of such an act let alone perform it.
