I haven't been on here much in the last 6 months or so, mostly as I'm still on shift work at the box making plant and doing around 64-66 hours a week, so I guess you guys wouldn't really know my postion in life at the moment. I'm currently in the preliminary stages of getting a job at an exclusive accounting firm in Sydney and am doing everything I can to achieve this and rejoin the professional ranks. Usually a guy with my appalling academic record and near negative GPI would have no chance at getting a run as an undergraduate accountant in a firm like this, but my cousin is a manager there and tells me he can get me a start as long as I'm prepared to do the hard yards if hired.

So last night I sent him my CV to pass along to the partners with a long description of the weaknesses it had and what we could do to help make it look more attractive. He then e-mailed one of the partners and BCc me to let me know he had made contact.

I guess you could say that it wasn't what I was expecting, and I hope to hell he knows his boss as well as he says he does. No shit this is word for word what he sent...

Being on <insert type of public transport here> for 1/2 an hour or more twice a day doesn't have much to recommend it.

When I lived in Wollongong I had to travel an hour and 10 minutes to uni, wasn't that bad. Will prob be living in Maroubra and the office is on Jones's Pier (near Star City) so it will be a bit of a hike to get to/from work but I'll get used to it I guess.

As for being an accountant I don't really have a choice. Me and 3 mates all got excluded from uni at the end of second year and business was the only school that'd take us. I'm turning 30 this year so I've gotta become something... anyway it's better than making cardboard boxes!
