Kitchen Gadgets

My new favorite new gadget. I try to not buy into gadgets since they usually don't do much but just make more to clean.

This one .... man I 6 cloves of garlic in about 1 minute in perfect even slices. It's really perfect for a small kitchen (even dorm rooms) and small amount of eaters since I'm usually only cooking for 2.

I put a mountain of garlic on pork chops and then made a cazuela with hot peppers and olive oil and they came out nice like a potato chip...will make my garlic peanuts even more incredible.

Bodum makes really nice products too, my espresso maker is a bodum, and their mini -french press is a godsend.

Could that be used for anything other than garlic? (I'm not a fan of single use gadgets....

garlic, ginger, chocolate, nuts are pictured on the box...it has 3 small compartments. I imagine that it also would be fine with small peppers or pearl onions.

That is very cool... let's the fine slicing commence!

By the way Mal... nothing like good french pressed coffee. Have you (or anyone) tried the bodum for tea? Works like a charm.

Phant, I have one of those too. But I have to put a LOT of coffee in to get the darkness I like. Do you have this problem? If you have a solution I would love it because I love that thing and it is so convenient.

I've tried one of this, and honestly, the coffee tasted quite like instant, just didnt have the richness or boldness of real coffee.

I'm a huge fan of the french press... Put in 3 teaspoons for each cup, the put in boiling water... Let it sit for about 3 minutes... and then press down the grounds -and pour... Outstanding coffee... every time. and takes no more time than the method above....

Bodum makes a cute little portable french press, for coffee to go... Just put in the coffee, put in the boiling water, put on the lid, and go -you can press it when you are ready...

I'm not too big a fan of french presses. Too much coffee dust and grit.

My favorite way to make coffee is with a Chemex. Keep your eyes open on ebay and you can often find a used one for not very much money.

Prettiest tea pot ever! I love the colour of tea and my favorite mug is a bodum glass thingy.

My only complaint with it is that when making half a pot it doesn't brew very well.

The garlic slicer is cool, but my benriner can do the same thing as well as slice anything else you put in front of it.

It's like a mandoline, but it's about a quarter of the price, and the box is covered in hilarious engrish expressions.

Wonderful sharpness, speed and Completion!

my dad was a professional chef back in his younger years. he's passed on many of his ancient and... strange gadgets to me.

ie: he gave me some of his old knives. 3 of them balance on their backs; a design that was outlawed ages ago
