What do you cook that makes the ladies swoon?
What easy dishes do you whip up to put on your best Don Juan/Iron Chef impression that impresses the ladies?
I usually go with a Pasta depending the ladies preferences and just drink wine heavily the whole time. A) Pasta and Sauces can be simple B)Garlic Bread is the same C) Salad can be made together which is fun and easy D) Wine goes well with Italian and makes everyone happy E) It's super cliche and it works |

I think the things that impress are often the easiest. A case in point is steamed clams. Just put butter, salt, white wine, garlic, shallots, amd more garlic in a big pot and cook until the garlic and shallots are tender, and then put the clams in (steamers or little necks are good) until the shells open wide. Serve them with garlic bread or mashed potatoes. Super yummy.
Other shell fish, like lobster or crab, are similarly easy and seem to make a splash. And they work good for a romantic dinner, too (not too heavy) |

Odd as this may sound, I bust out the BBQ.
BBQ'd chicken that you then place into a caesar salad works well. Another one would be porkchops, kettle cooked corn on the cob, and baked potato. All usually served with some "fancy" fruit juice. Or a beer depending on her stance and the "mood." Everyone else I know does the whole "romantic Italian" thing, but I cook what I cook best. If the food sucks, she's not going to be impressed, right? What can I say? I'm a hick

I find that whatever I make for my wife will typically impress her. Why? Because when I do the cooking, she doesn't have to. Or because she sees that I took the time and effort to plan a whole menu and see it all the way throgh. I've had numerous hits and a few misses, but overall, it turns out well.
For special occasions, I'll cook up some surf & turf, usually fillet mignon and some sort of shrimp dish. Serve with rice pilaf and a simple steamed veggie, add wine. Good sex WILL follow.

I usually make up some sort of sea food dinner. I wouldn't go out with someone that hated sea food
A nice piece of salmon or some shell fish and the rest is easy. Break out the wine and the evening is set.

I love to BBQ, but I usually save that for something after the first time I cook. The only thing wrong with it in my eyes is that it's such a male stereotype, and I hate being stereotyped. I'm happy to show my male BBQ prowess, but I want to show that I can cook in the kitchen first.
