Favorite Chips?

So I just got done with a bag of Lay's Cheddar and Sour Cream chips (probably my favorite snack in the world) and I was wondering if there was any obscure chip flavors/brands that I should be eating and haven't tried. So let's hear it, and we'll up our cholesterol together!

I used to be addicted to UTZ when they were only available in PA (I just dated myself....) but now that they went nation wide, I think they changed the recipe.

Anywho, I like me some cape cod, yukon gold chips.

And I have been itching to try those "blue" chips, even though they are made from purple potatoes, there is no such thing as a blue potatoe.

I think my favourite of all time have to be Grandma Utz's Kettle Cooked Potato Chips. The ingredients are as follows:
Potatoes cooked in lard, salt, BHA, BHT.

They melt in your mouth. Sadly, they're not available in FL.

On the other side of the health coin, there are Terra mixed root vegetable chips. There's taro, beet, yucca, sweet potato, and a couple more that I never remember. They're really tasty and crisp. Expensive as hell though.

You won't be able to try them, but I luv 'em. My sister takes potatoes, slices them so thin you can almost see thru them, deep fries them a lil bit, puts them on a baking sheet, sprinkles a hot sause mixture over them, and then bakes them 'til crispy. Needless to say, they don't last very long with me around

All-Dressed Ruffles...I had them when I was in Canada over spring break...goes with a Molson very nicely. I want to see if I can find a place online that I can order All-Dressed Ruffles from, because they are delicious! Otherwise, I eat Cheddar and Sour cream Ruffles like they're going out of style. Anything cheese flavored is good for me

My god the internet is filled with niches.. I found this snack chip review place this morning.

They don't have http://www.zapps.com/ reviewed (not that they are my favorite but they are pretty tasty and crunchy)

I also have a love for Laura Scudder's BBQ from Southern California...haven't had them in years.

Anyone remember "Charle's Chips" (I think, been a long time) used to come in a big ol tin.. Man best I ever had, can't get 'em in UK.

They got some weird ones over here -
Prawn Cocktail flavour
Baked Beans flavour
Tomato Sauce flavour
Pickled Onion flavour

I could go on and on... Blew my mind when I moved. But the weirdest one I ever saw, but never tried (wasn't brave enough) was a limited edition "Hedgehog" flavour.

PS Every word is true..

My uncle and aunt owned the Charles Chips franchise in
central Florida for years until Musser brothers sold out.

I worked in the warehouse as a kid I could eat anything I wanted

From chips to cookies to the pretzels.

if you want them go to their web site. I would think they send them to the UK.

This is a no-brainer for me: Doritos. My favorite flavors are...

Naco Cheesier
Cooler Ranch
Taco - I don't know if they still make it. All I know is that it's not available where I live and the last time I saw it was in California ten years ago.
When I was a kid they also had Sour Cream and Onion Doritos. Yummy!!

Salt and vinegar are all right but they kill my tongue after a while. There are these New England chips that come in S&V and Gold Russet flavors, both are very nice. For light(er) chips Baked Doritos are interesting and pretty good actually.

I don't know who makes (made?) them, but awhile back I got a bag of potato chips out of a machine that were grilled steak flavored. AWESOME!!
Unfortunately I can't find them around anywhere any more. So I'll throw a vote in for Garlic and Onion.

Damn lucky you were. I am gonna check the site out now I know they have one. Also like the pretzels, but didn't know they did cookies. mmmmm chips (or crisps, depending on location). Thanks 4 that!

vermin
They have a steak flavour over here (not friggin' surprising as they have a roast chicken flavour) and from what I recall I think they are a US co. that makes 'em. Unfortunately I can't remember the name of the co., but I have to get food tomorrow and if I remember I'll check it out for ya.

My fav chip flavour used to be Ketchup, but now I cant get enough of these new Old Duch Rave Buffalo Wings chips. They are a little bit spicy if u like it, and it has a hint of ranch dressing. mmmmm sooo good

PS: I live in Canada, and I believe that in the USA u can't get ketchup flavour, and im not sure if u can even get old dutch brand. If anyone comes to canada try both of these flavours u will be impressed

Do you have Miss Vickies in the States? Kind of kettle chip style I guess. Thickish and crunchy, gnarled looking, and they almost feel healthy, but you know damned well they're not? Well, I'm currently hot on the roasted garlic flavour.

Note to Digby, Tato Skins are still around. White Hen (7-11 type store) carries them in the Chicagoland Area.

I just tried this, and it is unreal. Buy Cheddar Chex Mix and Cheetoes, and mix the cheetoes w/ the Chex mix. Totally ridiculous, you can't stop eating it. Put it out at your next party...

BBQ and Jalapeno Krunchers are definitely up there, and I love Salt & Vinegar.

As far as obscure chips, I once had some Coney Island chips that were great. They tasted like a hot dog w/ mustard and onions on it(Coney style obviously). Can't recall the maker of them.

Poore Brothers does make great flavors right now. These aren't chips, but try a bag of Snyder's Cheddar Pretzel pieces. You'll be addicted.

Finally, Jay's (Chicago brand) makes a chip called Hot Stuffs. Pretty awesome if you can find em. Alright, I'll stop now. I could go on all day...
