Favorite Cereal

Mmmmmmm.....you know we all still love us some cereal sometimes. Which one or ones are your favorite?

I'll start the fun....

As a kid it was.... Golden Grahams
As an adult it's..... Golden Grahams

You just can't be the Golden Goodness! Next..........

Lockjaw 10-10-2004 07:18 PM

As a kid...
1) Honeycombs
2) Sugar Smacks
3) Trix

As an adult...
1) Honeycombs
2) Cornflakes
3) Chex

I still love my Honeycombs and always will but the other sugary cereals are just way too sweet to eat at 6 in the morning but they make a nice dry snack in the afternoon.
And I've sworn off Smacks completely as they make your urine smell like Smacks.

screamincheetah 10-10-2004 07:46 PM

I like how you've moved away from the Trix, but just over to another "x" cereal...Chex
X does mark the spot

Lockjaw 10-11-2004 04:41 AM

Hmmm never noticed that. Wonder what a shrink would say about that.

Bill O'Rights 10-11-2004 04:51 AM

Froot Loops

maleficent 10-11-2004 05:29 AM

Frosted Flakes (because well, it's been said I am a flake)
Apple Jacks
and my grown up cereal Product 19

(but I can't stand to have milk on my cereal - -I like it dry)

Cream of Wheat Hot Cereal, with cinammin sprinkled on top

Glory's Sun 10-11-2004 07:23 AM

Lucky Charms cuz "they're magically delicious"

Chingal0 10-11-2004 01:35 PM

Fruity Pebbles / Cocoa Pebbles...

However, I really love Go Lean Crunch mixed with strawberries now, it's so good and very healthy.

toilet_duck 10-11-2004 04:12 PM

Ah! Here's a good opportunity to check for some fans. My favorite cereal is without a doubt Powdered Toast. It's toast-errific!

dtheriault 10-12-2004 08:57 PM

Honey/Sugar Smacks
Peanut Butter Captain Crunch

namnori 10-13-2004 12:19 AM

I'm gradually switching over to store brand imitation high sugar cereal. Not that much difference in taste, and over 50% cheaper!

I always just picked the cereal with the best toys anyways. I got a pretty big collection of plushies from cereals, but for the past couple of years the toys have really sucked. The toys tying in with Spiderman 2 were really lame.

Irishsean 10-13-2004 01:20 AM

1. Cheerios
2. Corn Chex
3. Rice Crispies

I know its wierd, but I can't stand sugary cereal...

tspikes51 10-13-2004 10:51 AM

Cinnamon Toast Crunch, especially now that it is generic.

stonegrody 10-13-2004 12:43 PM

As a kid: Generic Corn Flakes (It's all my mom would buy because she thought it was healthy and it was cheap) with about a cup of sugar. <exaggerating>

As an adult: Honey Nut Cheerios (No Sugar)

I think you meant no additional sugar.

Mine is Multigrain Cheerios, which also has some sugar, but not compared to many others. I have a kryptonite-sized weakness for Capt'n Crunch, and try to avoid letting it into the house. It shreds the inside of my mouth, but I can't help it.

Have to vouch for Cinnamon Toast Crunch. i have been eating that thing for so long and it never gets old.

rhapz 10-13-2004 02:13 PM

Cinnamon toast crunch it is. Ya cant go wrong with that

la petite moi 10-14-2004 08:45 AM

I like Special K!

soccerchamp76 10-14-2004 10:40 AM

Life
Honeycomb
Fruit Pebbles
Cocoa Pebbles

magnum_xxxl 10-14-2004 01:44 PM

Cinnamon Life, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Captain Crunch (the All Crunch Berries kind is the best) either Cocoa or Fruity Pebbles.
And as a kid Count Chocula, Boo Berry, & Franken Berry.

inharmony 10-14-2004 01:46 PM

Any Captain Crunch is my favorite. But I have to let it sit and get soggy for about 15 mins so it doesn't hurt the roof of my mouth :)

nospam 10-14-2004 01:48 PM

I've loved Lucky Charms since childhood.

radioguy 10-14-2004 02:16 PM

ditto, nospam.....that and fruity pebbles

jenjen 10-19-2004 11:17 PM

I'm hooked on Fruit loops...and supposedly they now have less sugar so they are healthy :-)

Jaycee 10-19-2004 11:34 PM

Alright, you are all going to think I'm totally weird (well, blame it on my parents, they fed me this stuff...)
As a kid, it was Wheatena cereal with a squished banana at the bottom of the bowl. Now, it's lumpy Cream of Wheat with honey. ... Yes, I still enjoy them both.
I never could get into the other cereals... especially after my daughter, many years ago, had the most foul color green "business" in her diaper... post-fruit loops. (Hope I haven't offended any Tucan-cereal lovers.) Ewwww!

screamincheetah 10-20-2004 07:29 AM

As I said earlier, Golden Grahams will always be king, but I'm liking the Cheerios with strawberries in it right now. I can't think of what they call that variety.

Also, am I the only weido that actually likes Cracklin' Oat Bran and Grape Nuts sometimes. I just feel healthier eating those cerals, especially the Grape Nuts. Although I haven't had either for a long time.

Val_1 10-20-2004 02:34 PM

I usually get the generic versions of cereals, not because of the cost but because they generally have fewer additives than the name brands. Compare the ingredients on Kellog's Frosted Mini-Wheats to generic.

ok seriously other than Lucky Charms I enjoy about 30 different types of cereal. It's one of my favorite things on this planet. My list includes: Cookie Crisp, Fruit Loops, Honeycomb, Honey Nut Cheerios, Frosted Flakes, Cap'n Crunch, oh man.. I had a brain fart.. there are so many I can't think of them all!

dr3n 10-20-2004 03:24 PM

Either or Corn Flakes or Rice Krispies.. But without any sugar.. That just spoils them..
Or Reddie Brek.. Except have that cold and with lots of sugar...

Fickle is today's word of the day.. :)

runtuff 10-20-2004 03:26 PM

Always liked both Frosted Flakes, got to love the sugar you can see right on the flakes and Life, which was a great game to play as a kid.

That's very interesting, I'll have to check that sort of thing out.

KinkyKiwi 10-21-2004 11:54 AM

captain crunch and special K with red berries :) its pretty much all i'll eat for breakfast..besides pancakes

hoobajoo 10-21-2004 02:30 PM

I like to mix Peanut Butter Captain Crunch and Honey Nut cheerios

cokelvr 11-17-2004 07:40 AM

Golden Grahams. Then anything that has cinnamon.

Daoust 11-17-2004 08:28 AM

Golden Grahams taste like golden showers after you've had too much of them

As a kid - Froot Loops. (Don't they smell awesome?)
As a big kid - Banana Nut Mueslix. (WARNING: EXTREMELY GOOD!)

gremlinx8 11-17-2004 06:18 PM

I hate sugary cereals. My favorite is Cheerios but I also like Total, any kind of Chex and Frosted Mini Wheats- I guess they're a little sugary, but not bad.

Paradise Lost 11-17-2004 06:49 PM

Kelloggs Smart Start. Seriously, this stuff is better than any sugar cereal out there, and ridiculously healthy. 12 Vitamins at 100% your Daily Value, good amount of Sodium and Potassium to get your going in the morning. Tons of Carbs without all that much sugar. Can't beat good ole' Oats and Granola-type Cereals.

Shirtninja 11-17-2004 07:49 PM

Cinnamon toast crunch, chex, or honey nut Cheerios is all you will ever find at my place.

M_G 11-17-2004 10:43 PM

Fruity Pebbles when I want to NOT eat healty, and Banana Nut Crunch when I "try" to eat better :)

Oh, and Honey Nut Cheerios and Regular Cheerios mixed in between.

RickB 11-18-2004 12:58 AM

Raisin Bran
Frosted Flakes

Tira_Lee 11-18-2004 02:29 PM

lucky charms here :)

RMMsGirl 11-18-2004 07:38 PM

My taste in cereal hasn't changed from childhood to adulthood. My favorites are:
1. Golden Grahams
2. Cocoa Pebbles
3. Rice Krispies

Dashmonkey 11-23-2004 03:14 PM

Its all about the Reese's Peanut Butter Puffs Cereal. *drool* a must in my house.
Other then that its got to be Cinnamon Toast Crunch.

eribrav 11-23-2004 04:42 PM

The Cheerios with freeze dried blueberries and strawberries are really good.

K-Wise 11-23-2004 04:57 PM

Cookie Crisp, Honey Comb, Corn Pops, all the fruit cereals are my top faves. Shame they don't make these bad boys anymore.

http://www.supermancollectors.com/ch...y03/stuffe.JPG

Asta!!

mfe 11-23-2004 05:12 PM

I loved Cookie Crisp and Coco Krispies as a kid...but now I just eat Cheerios and Corn Flakes

sapphire 11-25-2004 10:58 AM

Its all about Frosted Flakes for me.

Yes, Yes, Yes..... You can reference my thread starting post to know that I agree Golden Grahams are the bomb diggity! RMMsGirl, you're now on my People Who Rock list

Although the Grahams are the best, I like to mix it up every once in a while. At this point I am thoroughly enjoying some Blueberry Morning. Maybe not the manliest cereal, but damn good and healthy too.

unregistered092 11-30-2004 10:10 AM

it really depends, i have a habit of eating a cereal way too much and then get sick of it. but some of the greats are fruit loops, apple cinnemon cheerios, frosted flakes, and lucky charms.

avhg1 11-30-2004 12:12 PM

<IMG src="http://www.i-mockery.com/booberry/1986.gif">

It's a little hard to find. I love the way it turn the milk a nice grayish blue color. How could it not be good for you!

keyshawn 11-30-2004 02:33 PM

my favorite food !!

hmm...i dont have a favorite one..

But golden puffs [malt-o-meal brand] or smacks, [i think its called by kellogs] its like crack. I Love it.
My other choice of drugs:
- cinnamon apple o's
- frosted flakes
- fruity pebbles

BTW, i think the bagged cereal [by malt-o-meal and quaker oats] tastes just as good as the boxed stuff, in some cases better, and is cheaper :)

[PS - I'm actually working on a site right now - THE SCDB - The serial cereal database; which will have a brief review of its taste, or whats its similar to, and include older cereals that aren't produced anymore.] [Comments ? suggestions ?]

Willravel 11-30-2004 09:54 PM

Product 19. Hands down the best cereal in the history of the world. IMO.

avernus 12-07-2004 07:31 AM

Fruit and Fibre or my own homamade meusili. I generally put in oats, bran, sultanas, dried apricots, prunes, toasted cracked almonds and hazelnuts and dried apple slices. I always add some sort of fresh fruit (or it can get boring), my favorite being strawberrys. Healthy, cheap and tasty!

M.T. Promises 12-08-2004 11:30 AM

Cinnamon Toast Crunch. The only thing better is Cinnamon Toast Crunch with sliced banana.

Suave 12-08-2004 12:39 PM

So many I could list. If I had to pick one, it would probably be Alpha Bits. I can eat loads of them, and eat them day after day after day. For a healthier choice I like either Shreddies or Mini Wheats/Shredded Wheat, and for a crappier choice, Nestle Quick cereal or Froot Loops. Actually, my favourite might be Team Cheerios, but I can't get them here so they're kind of disqualified.

Grasshopper Green 12-08-2004 08:41 PM

MMMMM....cereal.

I love Quaker Crunchy Corn Bran, Strawberry Mini Wheats, Oh!s, and Honey Bunches of Oats....I like Cocoa/Fruity Pebbles and Golden Grahams too. Too hard to pick an absolute favorite though. Oh, and Corn Chex with bananas. Delicious.

Now...Special K

JohnnyRoyale 12-11-2004 04:51 PM

Ok, I have two fav's, but for differnt reasons:

For actually eating at breakfast, in the morning: Grape nuts. Seriously. I mix in a half a container of Yoghurt, and, if I'm in the mood, some fruit, and it's delicious.
For any other time: Peanuit butter crunch. In a pinch, those new reeses peanut butter things will do, but IMO, nothing beats sitting down with a movie and a big box of those orange pebbles of peanut flavor! Of course,I'm sure in about five to ten years, there's going to be an annoucement about them causing cancer or something similar, but untill then...

K-Wise 12-11-2004 05:03 PM

In truth I can't get enough of these fuckin things
http://egyptian.net/~mrch/quakeroatsquares.jpg
I don't usually eat them with milk though it's usually in handfuls right out of the box :D.

Asta!!

Blackthorn 12-12-2004 05:50 PM

Ones I don't eat much if at all anymore:

Captain Crunch - just can't get enough of that goodness
Lucky Charms - they are magically delicious

The cereal I eat most now is Raisin Nut Bran. Very yummy :D

http://www.generalmills.com/stream_image.aspx?rid=6938

screamincheetah 12-17-2004 09:51 PM

Raisin Nut Bran is a pretty darn good cereal. I don't think I've had it for at least 10 years though. Looking at the how good for me it is though, I may have to pick me up a box.

On the strong endorsment of someone on here, I picked up some Smart Start last time and am really enjoying that right now.

pimpercrobian 12-18-2004 12:12 AM

cinnamon toast crunch and reeses puff. the best shit out there.

Guthumba 12-18-2004 06:09 AM

As a kid I was a Frankenberry fiend.

I tried to eat a box of a few years ago and almost OD'ed on sugar...

bigd999 12-23-2004 03:55 PM

Unhealthy - Cocoa Puffs, im coo coo for them!

Healthy - Grape nuts

cyrnel 12-23-2004 04:05 PM

Grape Nuts, no added sugar.
Oatmeal, old fashioned, steamed with minimal water, hint of brown sugar or honey.

For decadence I don't go much beyond Chex (rice or wheat). Most others are too sweet for me these years.

outdoor 12-23-2004 05:22 PM

granola...i mean come on, my username is outdoor

Bratwurst 12-26-2004 08:00 AM

As a kid:
1) Rice Chex or Corn Chex
2) Cookie Crisp
3) Kellogs Corn Flakes

As an adult:
1) Wheat Chex
2) Quaker Granola

Jonnymax 12-26-2004 12:08 PM

Ohs! There are so man other good ones, but Ohs are crunchy and just sweet enough for me.

Catmandu 12-28-2004 01:52 PM

I can live on cereal. Just cereal. I remember years ago when I was training for a marathon. On Sundays, after my long run of the week, I would snarf down almost a whole box of Wheaties. Good times... Today I am addicted to the new 1/3 less sugar Frosted Flakes.

VarsityDrinking 01-26-2005 07:06 AM

My boss is the person responsible for giving "Froot Loops" its name. Seriously!

I was a big Count Chocula fan when I was younger, these days I prefer hot cereals like, oatmeal, etc.

THGL 01-26-2005 07:17 AM

then & now:
Raisin Bran
Cap't Crunch
Granola w/ raisins

wolf 01-26-2005 08:11 AM

Kid:
Cookie Crisp
Captain Crunch
Shredded Wheat

Now:
Chex (all of 'em)
Grapenuts

That cereal is so dam good.

King Vitamin
Fruity Pebbles
Lucky Charms

Now:
Rains Brand
Cheerios
Fruity Pebbles

I refuse to fully grow up.

amonkie 01-30-2005 08:06 AM

Raisin Nut Bran
Coco Krispies
Kashi's Raisin

My weird quirk is I refuse to drink the rest of the milk in the bowl after I've eaten all the cereal. It just tastes wrong. And every bite has to have some cereal, and I try to get a raisin in every one.

Half Life 01-30-2005 06:29 PM

Lucky Charms with milk

thubpt 02-01-2005 01:50 PM

My favorites are Life cereal, and Kashi's Autumn Wheat (the best shredded wheat cereal known to man)

However, I refuse to eat them with milk. I always have a tupperware container full of cereal at work to much through my day :)

Stan Fields 02-01-2005 04:31 PM

For better or for worse my All-Bran has become my favorite cereal

MexicanOnABike 02-12-2005 01:40 PM

LIFE with a ton of sugar.
and then i switched to alphabits for a while...
then it was 5bowls of raisin brans a day....
after thats, i went with life mixed with shreddies... with a ton of sugar.
then just recently, i started eating cereals again.. alphabits are still as good!
but i'm lactose intolerent. :s so it sucks whenever i eat em with milk.

ergdork 02-12-2005 05:34 PM

Kix! Simple and tasty! Kid tested, mother approved! et cetera, et cetera!

You should do what I did, add cereal until the milk is gone. :D

As a kid: Frosted Mini Wheats (my mom was anti artificial coloring, so no Froot Loops or Lucky Charms for me). But I think I OD'ed on the stuff because I can't stand looking at it anymore.

Nowadays: Total, Cornflakes, Raisin Bran (Flakes taste so much better than wheat squares.)

Caveat, I gotta have Lactaid milk with my cereal. Somewhere between kid and adult, my body became increasingly lactose intolerant, or I just noticed it more...or at the very least, my friends noticed it more. Lactaid milk makes tastes so much sweeter that I don't need to add any sugar.

K-Wise 02-12-2005 09:33 PM

Good to know other people keep adding cereal until the milk is no more.

Asta!!

boom29 02-14-2005 12:54 PM

There is another way? I've been known to count out a few more fresh pieces out of the box to finish up that last bit of milk.

Using a regular dinner spoon it takes 2 and a half Honey combs to use up a dinner spoon of milk.

ryfo 02-16-2005 10:21 PM

crunchy nut cornflakes (no sugar) or just right (no sugar & canned peaches on top) yummmmmmm

Stan Fields 02-17-2005 05:15 PM

I woke up early this morning remembering the distinct taste of Rice Krispies even though I haven't had any for over a year :(
Tomorrow I start on a box of Cap'n Crunch. Tomorrow will be a good day.
