Breakfast Tacos

4 eggs
1/4 cup sour cream
4 flour tortillas
1/2 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
4 strips crumbled bacon (cooked the night before)
Hot salsa (or whatever your preference)

Beat eggs together in a small bowl. Add sour cream and salt and pepper to taste. Pour egg mixture into skillet and cook for a few minutes, then stir with a spatula and cook more until well cooked. Place scrambled eggs in the middle of the tortilla. Top with crumbled bacon, cheese, sour cream, and salsa. Fold over and seal with a little sour cream.

Granola
2 cups rolled oats
1/2 cup slivered almonds
1/2 cup sunflower seeds
1/2 cup coconut
1/4 cup raisins
1/2 cup honey
1/2 cup oil

Mix together oats, almonds, sunflower seed, and coconut in a bowl. In a separate bowl mix the honey and oil together and then pour onto oat mixture and stir well. Spread onto a greased baking pan and cook on low heat (300F degrees) for 20 to 30 minutes, or until browned. When it's golden, pour into another bowl and add raisins.

Makes a great breakfast cereal as well as a nice snack to munch on.

I don't like it so much in the summer, but in the winter...

Rice. I'll cook a pot of short grain, brown rice every few days. Leave it in the fridge, then in the morning, drop a large spoonful or two in a bowl in the microwave and heat til warm, pour on some maple syrup -- or sprinkle with brown sugar and butter.

There's also the old standbys - toasted baged with peanut butter, or cream cheese. Quick bread recipes are readily available that you can make every few days and have fresh baked goodies for munching.

I usually just have a protein shake, or some cheese and grapefruit juice.

Every now and then I want some greasy artery clogger of a breakfast (mainly after drinking a lot). For times like those I fry some bacon, then fry hash browns in the remaining grease, then eggs in the leftover grease. Very filling, and everything comes out all nice and bacon-flavored. (drooooool)

As long as you have the Grape Nuts handy, try them once with Cherry Kool Aid. I started eating them like that a long time ago while at sea because we ran out of fresh milk. They were pretty good when you let them soak up the kool aid and get softer.

Strawberry is okay, too. But stay away from the citrus flavors; they don't work well.

Pop Tarts. Lots of Pop Tarts.

Dilbert1234567 06-07-2004 07:49 PM

Shrimp breakfast burrito:

Pan fry shrimp with butter and garlic till about cooked.

Drain in colander (get rid of butter)

Scramble eggs and a bit of milk and cream in a bowl

Toss shrimp back in the pan and turn the heat to high, add the egg mix, cook until done. toss into a tortilla, eat.

That's so weird I may have to try it. Thanks for the ideas everyone!

A numer 1 from McDonald's drive-thru breakfast menu... doesn't get any easier than that. Just don't eat it for an easy and quick breakfast, lunch, and dinner for a month straight....

Jolt 06-12-2004 11:24 PM

Make like a whole loaf of french toast ahead of time, freeze it, pull a couple slices out and put them in the fridge the night before, and pop it in the toaster in the morning...

shAzb0t 06-13-2004 12:20 AM

anything with eggs, probably the most versatile food out there, especially for breakfast.

Stare At The Sun 06-13-2004 12:42 AM

2 Eggs - over easy
hash brown - just get a bag, add oil, and watch em cook in a skillet
some brown and serve sausage
and a few pieces of toast.

That's my favorite breakfast.

matteo101 06-14-2004 01:54 PM

Head over to Mcdonalds and buy a bacon mcgriddle, and some hashbrowns. Thats my hangover breakfast. I usually just eat crispix, and some fruit. Possibly yogurt, if i have any.

tcm_eternal 06-15-2004 03:23 PM

friend of mine made one a little while ago
mix some shredded pepperoni in with sausage and make patties
tastes great, just can't be good for you

Francis 06-16-2004 11:48 AM

cut a 2 inch or so hole in the middle of a slice of bread, butter a frying pan and toss the bread on. break an egg and place the egg in the hole in the bread. wait a minute for the egg to cook and flip it over onto another buttered part of the frying pan. cher did it for nicholas cage, looked good to me.

mr sticky 06-16-2004 06:51 PM

Mom used to make us cinnamon toast- Just mix a little cinnamon and sugar, sprinkle over buttered bread and toast...um...ummm good!

Mephex 06-16-2004 07:12 PM

4 Eggs, A splash of milk, beat until thin, pour into hot, well greased skillet, slice a bit of sharp chedder cheese into the mix, once it starts solidifying, pour 2 tablespoons of salsa in, and wala, you have Scrambled Salsa eggs.

Nummy.

doodlebird 06-16-2004 09:25 PM

fried egg and cheese sandwich...

heat skillet,
toast bread,
toss egg on skillet.
by the time the toast is ready,
your egg will be cooked sunny side up.
slap on a piece of window cheese (pre-sliced)
total time: 90 sec.

Tomatoes on Bruschetta

A couple of large, ripe tomatoes
Lots of garlic
Olive oil
Fresh basil
Fresh bruschetta

Cut up the tomatoes kind of small, mix in bowl with crushed garlic, olive oil, chopped basil and freshly ground black pepper and sea salt.

Leave in fridge for an hour or so. Toast bruschetta and spread tomato mix over while bread still hot.

Delish.

2 eggs, 4 breakfast sausage, bread-type food (toast, cinnamon buns, toasty buns with cheese), Oatmeal with ____ additions

r3ptile 06-29-2004 01:13 PM

sometimes i like to make these fun little breakfast things i call 'popeyes.'

you just take a piece of bread, and use the rim of a small juice cup to cut out a circle from the center. spread some butter on it, then throw it in a hot skillet and put an egg in the middle where you took out the piece of bread. cook it to taste -- i like mine so the yolk is runny enough to sop up with the bread.. i always cook the center piece along with it too, and lots of bacon!! its a quick, easy, and delicious breakfast.

wonderwench 06-29-2004 01:16 PM

Cottage cheese and some fresh fruit.

Bill O'Rights 06-29-2004 01:42 PM

Pour a box of Froot Loops in a mixing bowl, add enough milk to make the Froot Loops "float", stir well, enjoy.

Well, not the whole damn box.

Hey! Them's "eggs in a nest". I make that for my son on the weekends, when I'm home.

Well, ya didn't think I was gonna let him get into my Froot Loops...did ya? ;)

SinisterMotives 06-29-2004 02:20 PM

If you like omelettes, try keeping bags of chopped sausage, onions, and bell pepper (or whatever you like in them) in the freezer. Then all you have to do in the morning is crack a couple of eggs in the skillet and throw in a handful of the goodies.

If you cook rice with twice as much water as you normally would (almost soupy) and add oil and salt to it, it's very good.

English muffins with ham and cheese.

Separate engilsh muffins in half and butter them
Top with once slice of ham and one slice of cheese
Broil until cheese melts

Leftovers for breakfast
Slice left over baked potato into cubes or rounds
Cut left over meat into thin slices (works well with beef)
Heat meat and potato in skillet until potato starts to turn golden brown
Scramble one egg (optional)
Make toast
Serve with whatever condiments you like.

I love those! Tell me the next time your son is home, and throw a blanket on the couch. I will be over for breakfast.

Could you throw some bacon and fresh fruit on the menu, too!

Rice as breakfast cereal is good. But the best I've made for myself is with barley. Make a big pot of barley anytime. In the morning, scoop a bunch in a bowl, cover with generous amount of brown sugar and some butter, and nuke it for 2-3 minutes. Stop about 1.5 minues in and stir. The sugar melts and merges with the butter and makes a great syrup. Tastes great with the oats, even better than rice. I don't say it's the healthiest thing in the world, but at least it's a whole grain and it's better (and tastes better) than packaged cereal. Dirt cheap, too.

Supple Cow 07-27-2004 11:17 AM

I like a simple poached egg on top of a buttered piece of toast. For extravagant mornings, I either make strawberry-walnut pancakes (chock full of strawberries and walnuts so that it feels like the pancake itself is merely a thin web holding the berries and nuts together), or the Freshman's Ultimate Breakfast Sandwich (not really called that by anyone but me). Scrambled eggs, bacon and ketchup on a bagel.

If you want to stick with yogurt in the mornings, here are some things to mix/dip in it:

*waffles (my personal favorite are blueberry eggos)
*other cereals
*berries
*fruit
*honey
*peanut butter
*nutella
*nuts
*anything leftover/packaged and bready (poptarts, french toast, strudels...)

Use these separately or in different combinations for variety.

Breakfast is the best meal. Ever.

A Double Decker BLT. It's the breakfast of champions.

Boo 07-27-2004 08:51 PM

Rice and Raisins w/milk and splenda.

Oatmeal w/ raisins milk and splenda.

A side of apple or grapes.

maleficent 07-27-2004 08:56 PM

I'm craving this right now --
A baked apple
Take one apple -- core it -- sprinkle cinnamin, sugar if you choose, raisins if you choose, and a hit of vanilla if you choose. Bake at 400 degrees in the toaster oven while you are in the shower.
Get out of shower
Dry off
Throw hair into towel
Walk to kitchen and take apple out of oven.
The smell is heavenly - the taste is even better.

Xell101 07-28-2004 05:24 PM

1 Egg
1 English Muffin
1 Slice of Cheese
1 Slice of appropriately sized ham

If really you need instructions on assembly, your not qualified to cook your own food.

goateebird 07-29-2004 07:29 AM

2 eggs, a splash of milk, some cheddar cheese, and some dill makes some fantastic herbed scrambled eggs. Generally, scrambled eggs are really easy to spice up with your own personal touches.

Charlatan 07-29-2004 07:46 AM

My typical breakfast is brown toast or a bagel with peanut butter...

I go through phases where I will have peanut butter and honey or jam but mostly it's just peanut butter.

I also, when the mood strikes will have a bowl of whatever cereal is in the cupboard (my wife and son are serial cereal eaters... they eat it morning, noon and night if they could... and sometimes do the sickos).

I also like:

Omlettes
French Toast
Pancakes (bisquick or scratch only)
Waffles
Eggs - scrambled, poached, over easy, soft boiled with sticks of toast...
