Granola
2 cups rolled oats 1/2 cup slivered almonds 1/2 cup sunflower seeds 1/2 cup coconut 1/4 cup raisins 1/2 cup honey 1/2 cup oil Mix together oats, almonds, sunflower seed, and coconut in a bowl. In a separate bowl mix the honey and oil together and then pour onto oat mixture and stir well. Spread onto a greased baking pan and cook on low heat (300F degrees) for 20 to 30 minutes, or until browned. When it's golden, pour into another bowl and add raisins. Makes a great breakfast cereal as well as a nice snack to munch on.

I don't like it so much in the summer, but in the winter...
Rice. I'll cook a pot of short grain, brown rice every few days. Leave it in the fridge, then in the morning, drop a large spoonful or two in a bowl in the microwave and heat til warm, pour on some maple syrup -- or sprinkle with brown sugar and butter. There's also the old standbys - toasted baged with peanut butter, or cream cheese. Quick bread recipes are readily available that you can make every few days and have fresh baked goodies for munching.

I usually just have a protein shake, or some cheese and grapefruit juice.
Every now and then I want some greasy artery clogger of a breakfast (mainly after drinking a lot). For times like those I fry some bacon, then fry hash browns in the remaining grease, then eggs in the leftover grease. Very filling, and everything comes out all nice and bacon-flavored. (drooooool) |

As long as you have the Grape Nuts handy, try them once with Cherry Kool Aid. I started eating them like that a long time ago while at sea because we ran out of fresh milk. They were pretty good when you let them soak up the kool aid and get softer.
Strawberry is okay, too. But stay away from the citrus flavors; they don't work well.

sometimes i like to make these fun little breakfast things i call 'popeyes.'
you just take a piece of bread, and use the rim of a small juice cup to cut out a circle from the center. spread some butter on it, then throw it in a hot skillet and put an egg in the middle where you took out the piece of bread. cook it to taste -- i like mine so the yolk is runny enough to sop up with the bread.. i always cook the center piece along with it too, and lots of bacon!! its a quick, easy, and delicious breakfast.

Pour a box of Froot Loops in a mixing bowl, add enough milk to make the Froot Loops "float", stir well, enjoy.
Well, not the whole damn box. ![]()

Rice as breakfast cereal is good. But the best I've made for myself is with barley. Make a big pot of barley anytime. In the morning, scoop a bunch in a bowl, cover with generous amount of brown sugar and some butter, and nuke it for 2-3 minutes. Stop about 1.5 minues in and stir. The sugar melts and merges with the butter and makes a great syrup. Tastes great with the oats, even better than rice. I don't say it's the healthiest thing in the world, but at least it's a whole grain and it's better (and tastes better) than packaged cereal. Dirt cheap, too.

I like a simple poached egg on top of a buttered piece of toast. For extravagant mornings, I either make strawberry-walnut pancakes (chock full of strawberries and walnuts so that it feels like the pancake itself is merely a thin web holding the berries and nuts together), or the Freshman's Ultimate Breakfast Sandwich (not really called that by anyone but me). Scrambled eggs, bacon and ketchup on a bagel.
If you want to stick with yogurt in the mornings, here are some things to mix/dip in it: *waffles (my personal favorite are blueberry eggos) *other cereals *berries *fruit *honey *peanut butter *nutella *nuts *anything leftover/packaged and bready (poptarts, french toast, strudels...) Use these separately or in different combinations for variety. Breakfast is the best meal. Ever.

I'm craving this right now --
A baked apple Take one apple -- core it -- sprinkle cinnamin, sugar if you choose, raisins if you choose, and a hit of vanilla if you choose. Bake at 400 degrees in the toaster oven while you are in the shower. Get out of shower Dry off Throw hair into towel Walk to kitchen and take apple out of oven. The smell is heavenly - the taste is even better.

My typical breakfast is brown toast or a bagel with peanut butter...
I go through phases where I will have peanut butter and honey or jam but mostly it's just peanut butter. I also, when the mood strikes will have a bowl of whatever cereal is in the cupboard (my wife and son are serial cereal eaters... they eat it morning, noon and night if they could... and sometimes do the sickos). I also like: Omlettes French Toast Pancakes (bisquick or scratch only) Waffles Eggs - scrambled, poached, over easy, soft boiled with sticks of toast...
