Oatmeal variation ideas

Oatmeal is a pretty bland meal by itself. I usually add fruit/brownsugar/cinnamon or combinations of the three for added flava. What does everyone else do I wonder? I've been experimenting, but my creative ideas haven't come out very well.

I've had a glass of orange juice with a couple of tablespoons of oatmeal added. It was actually quite good.

I am eating oatmeal right now with raisins, cinnamon, 2 packs of splenda and milk. Quite yummy.

I'm stuck in a tasty oatmeal rut. I use sugar and maple syrup to liven up the taste. Adding fruit is always a plus.

yeah I have whey pwoder with my oatmeal too. Don't like banana though...

I just a new delicious fruit thing to do- put frozen peach slices into your porridge along with theother fruit you normally have. THe peaches act like ice cubes and cool down the oatmeal while getting soft themselves. Quite delicious!

Pretty much any dried fruit will go well. I had some leftover dried cranberries from Thanksgiving not too long ago, and they were awesome. Just put them in when the water goes in the pot, that way they can soak up a bit of moisture before things get cooking. Outside of that, you can't go wrong with cinnamon and maple syrup. Also, I like to put a little bit of dried cereal in once I have the oatmeal in the bowl. I usually go with bran flakes. Just a little variation of texture.

Oh! And Apple Sauce! I made apple sauce not too long ago from apples from my grandmother's tree. Had a little lemon zest, and that was amazing in Oatmeal.
