Olives
I think that Olives are an aquired taste. Even up to 10 years ago I wouldn't have claimed to like them. Now I love eating the salty little fuckers.
I like black olives with the pits and in one of those fancy bottles. Mmmmm Olives. |
Yes, Please! Although they are not the most enjoyable veggies/fruit, I'd still eat them. So healthy those Olives are...
|
I found myself enjoying the green garlic stuffed olives mostly; the black ones are best on pizza.
|
I love black olives, not green.
But at a family/social function I make sure there is at least one can just for me. Also, once in a while, I get a craving and have to have a can of olives to snack on at home. YUM! |
ugh....i hate olives of all sizes, shapes, colors, and creeds
|
Depends how I have them. I like them stuffed with chesse and deep fried.
|
Love em all.
|
Olives seem to be a food w/ no middle ground. People seem either to love them or hate them.
|
Green olives are my favorite, but I think I like every kind. Someone told me once they are too high in fat to be eating, and I don't know if that's true, but I still love them.

Yes, Please!!!!!!!
I love black ones on pizza and anything mexican. I love green ones on burgers (there is a local fast food burger chain that puts em thick, yummy!!!!) I love em both in salads or just to snack on. |
Love olives of all kinds.
Quick easy recipe... 1 can crescent roll dough 1 jar almond stuffed olives wrap olive thinly in dough. Bake and serve. Have been a hit at most parties I bring them to. |
aye...me loves the olives!
favorite around my house... can o' green or black pitted olive oil apple cider vinegar craploads of fresh, sliced garlic peppercorns put it all in a jar, shake it up, refrigerate for a couple of days.... mmmmmmmm make your mouth water tasty morsels! |
Oh olives are great. As far as I can tell I've always liked them. I prefer green olives over black though. They're great with pizza, omelettes, macaroni and cheese (black more so than green), tuna sandwiches, mmm so good. The only problem I have with them is that they're just loaded in salt so I try not to eat them very often, but sometimes you just can't resist.
|
Love 'em if theyre black, pit or no pit is cool. Green olives make me nauseous.
|
Kalamata olives, all I have to say.

i like to get the black olives with the holes in 'em, and put them on my fingers and eat them one by one... muuaahahahaa
|
In some parts of the world, around the Mediterraen, the locals have a couple of dozen different kinds of olives to choose from. We're sort of olive-deprived around here.
I agree that the greek Kalatmata olives are great -- nice chewy texture, too, unlike regular olives. You olive haters might give them a try. I find traditional black olives kind of uninteresting on their own, though I like them a lot on pizza, in Mexican food, and even in scrambled eggs. I'm a big fan of olive-oil, as well, and we cook a lot of with it. If I'm eating olives on their own, not in another dish, I prefer green olives to the standard black (unless there's some kalamata olives around). Garlic-stuffed are best; a shop around here carries green, garlic-stuffed olives marinated in chablis, and they are _awesome._ The fat in olives and in olive oil, by the way, is good for your heart. |
love olives. (so long as there's no garlic involved).
Kalamatas are my favourites of the ones i've tried. |
Olives are great...that's all I have to say.
|
i hate black olives.
the green ones stuffed with pimento are pretty nice though. |
olive bars...
For me, there is nothing better than an olive bar at a gourmet market like Andronico's in the Bay Area or Dean & Deluca...you get to try all of the different variations and pick the best.
The garlic stuffed and goat cheese stuffed are the best in my opinion. Also, my fiance and all of her friends drink dirty martinis...any of the females on here care to explain the addiction? |
green olives by themselves... everything else with black olives (kalamata) :)
|
Olives are weird... When I look at them I think, no thanks.
When I eat them I just can't get enough... I recently had that problem in one of my favourite restaurants... the owner is the chef and his wife is the host (it's very small). I was waiting for some friends to arrive and she was concerned that I wasn't munching on the small plate of olives she'd put out for me... They're a house specialty. She cajoled me into trying them. My eyes had said no but (once again) my mouth said Yes! |
rrf Me too!
My best girlfriend and I in high school would rent movies at blockbuster, go to the grocery store, and, God willing, it would be coke-on-sale-week, so we'd pick up a 2-liter bottle, and a can of black olives. Wow. I haven't thought of that in a long time. ... |

I have to say that the best I've had are the ones my roommate's dad (who's egyptian) made, seasoned them himself and they were absolutely amazing; if I ever get the recipe for them I'll post it on here
|
It really depend. Some are great, some are terrible. I love regular ol' black canned olives and Kalamata olives, but I am not huge on the green martini olives. As far as the pitted fancy olives are concerned, I like the taste of most that I have tried, but the texture is the deal breaker for me. Kalamatas are great because they are firm and very tasty, but there are others that are very mushy and that is no good in my book.
