I accidentily discovered a good healthy snack

Well sorta.....

Somehow a banana ended up in my freezer. Well, the first thing about bananas is that you're not supposed to put it in the fridge because it will turn all black and brown. Well noone ever said not to put it in the freezer :D. It peeled the banana and took a bite out of it and it just tasted like a banana ice cream pop. I had a bottle of hersheys chocolate syrup and put a little on the banana, and voila, a banana split sans the fattening ice cream and whipped cream.

Tasted good, but then got a brain freeze after eating it in about 30 seconds

EDIT: Note after leaving the banana in the freezer for a while, the skin will turn all black and brown, but the banana itself isn't rotten. The skin has a weird reaction with cold for some reason.

Interesting, I think I have a bannana downstairs.. Let me go put it in the freezer. :)

EDIT: I did in fact have 4 bannanas, and I put one in the freezer. How long do you recommend leaving it in for?

Thanks.

I believe I left it in the freezer for 2 days. Although I'm sure 1 day is more than sufficient.

It's 1:30 in the morning and I think I know what I'm eating for breakfast, lunch and probably two for dinner.

There is a little shop near me that sells frozen bananas. They dip them in chocolate, and then you can get sprinkles or nuts on top.

There is a company that makes frozen banana pops on a stick. You can get them at Trader Joes around here in Milwaukie, Or.. I am not sure of the exact name, but when I find out ill post the box and me licking one with an erotic face on.

a good trick to make banana bread, is to "ripen" your bananas in the freezer.

Many websites will state:
"Hint: If banana are getting to ripe and you do not nave the time to make the bread at this time. Put the bananas in your freezer unpealed to use later. "

hhmmmm, that's interesting. I am not a fan of bananas, but we end up buying them and not half of them get eaten, but I will try that with them next time for the kids! ty!

Ya know, it reminds me of frozen bananas back in Vietnam. People use shredded coconuts, peanuts, condensed milk with the frozen banana and it is SOOOOOOOO GOOOOD!! Haven't eaten it in 10 years and I suddenly got a craving for it...:(

Did you use regular Hershey's syrup, or the one that creates a hard chocolate shell when it's cold?

I used the regular one.

I do this all the time because I have such a sweet tooth that I needed to find a healthier alternative to ice cream.

It's best if you peel the banana BEFORE you put it in the freezer - just toss it in a ziplock bag and you should have a solid banana treat in under 6 hours. 2-3 hours is not quite enough because the banana just gets really cold and doesn't have that crystallized quality to it. That's really the best part; I wouldn't recommend just eating them extremely cold.

Also, if you nuke a little nutella for 30 seconds to a minute, that works almost like chocolate syrup... and it's hazelnutty too!

Mmmmm...
