Time for a new oven, any suggestions?

I have an old Tappan built-in double oven that is just about kaput. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. Not really sure what I'm looking for. I just want an oven that works better than my old one does now.

My rents bought a KitchenAid double convection oven and its pretty damn good. Course it ran about 4k, but it cooks a mighty fine turkey! x2!

For about $350 I got a used GE glass top. It's all electric so you don't have to worry about gas, and it cleans up pretty easily. The range isn't as powerful as a gas one but it is better at keeping the heat even.

Don't get a Magic Chef -- if that brand still even exists.

Thanks for all the advice (remember, though, I'm getting an oven not a stove).

Chinga10,

I'll deffinitely look into getting a KitchenAid. Though I'll have to look at cheaper models ($4K's a tad steep for me, at least until I get my illegal smuggling operations back up and running )

27-Inch Double Oven - 1,659 / 1,759 - black/white respectively.

Same oven, top is convection. 2,119 / 2,119 / 2,019 - 'biscut' / white / black respectively.

27-Inch Architect™ Series True Convection Double Oven. Top convection. 2,769 - Steel.

They also have a few 30inch ovens on their website, but there are a few.

I am bored.

I have had very good luck with my Jenn-Air. My sister had an excellent Dacor. And a friend of ours went with Kitchen-Aid and was very pleased. My thinking is that they are all good once you get to a certain price range, and that you can shop price for the best deal.

Electric ovens heat more evenly than gas ovens..I would always opt for gas burners to cook or saute on but you cannot beat the consistency of an electric oven...the high end brands like Dacor, Thermador, Wolf, Viking are heavy duty and can get rather pricey..The other thihg is do you have enough amperage to put in an electric oven?...and defininitly get self cleaning.

What are the details of your space? In my current kitchen, I only had room for a GE Spectra (with range) and I am actually quite happy with it.

Obviously, if you have the room/inclination, a commerical model from Dacor or Wolf would be awesome.
