Pellaz 07-28-2003 06:42 AM

I've got to say, this woman annoys me to no end.

rrf 07-28-2003 11:58 AM

:(

hotdogg 07-28-2003 12:03 PM

She pisses me off to no end...Not only can't she cook, but where does she find all these packages of prepared and cleaned shrimp and just about every other ingredient all set to go?

Cynthetiq 07-28-2003 02:56 PM

LOL I have friends that manage the Food Network Studio in NY.... all the preps that go on for that stage.... amazing.

back to her...

I have beef with the US$40 a day... it doesn't include tip nor taxes.. and they are going to specific places... if they did tax and tip.. they only get to go to 2 places instead of 3-4.

otherwise I think she's cute, but not much of a chef, I cook better and use the same short cuts, time savers that she's been doing, AND I also do the dishes, which she doesn't have to since there are production assistants to do that menial work.

Met22 07-28-2003 03:38 PM

The 40 dollars a day show is bullshit!
No taxes, no tips and she drinks water!

She is also so annoying as she tries to convince you how easy something is. Sorry, she just says and acts in ways that just make me change the channel.

Hitchcock 07-28-2003 07:02 PM

She always seems like she's high. If you look beyond the obvious flaws, both of her shows are mindless, inoffensive entertainment; however, there are many better ones on Food Network.

The best one, IMHO, is "A Cook's Tour." It's consistently great; I can't recall a bad episode.

rrf 07-29-2003 05:59 AM

hey Cynthetiq... what actually do they do, it would be cool to get some inside info. they dont cheat do they?

gov135 07-29-2003 06:31 AM

I'm with rrf.
There IS something sexy about her. I'm not sure exactly what it is, but it's there. Enthusiasm? Her voice?

I like the thirty minute meals show. Yes, she is not making gourmet meals. And yes, she is not winning any awards presentation, creativity, etc. But she is not supposed to be redifining the culinary arts, she is showing people how to cook helathy meals in a short time.

I love the fact that she seems to have little prepped for her show. She cleans and cuts things just like the rest of use do. (And cooking is the easy part - prepping is what sucks).

Daval 07-29-2003 06:42 AM

I like her show personally, she does do some nice quick recipes, and she's not hard on the eyes! I don't think i've ever seen the $40 meal show though, maybe we don't get that one on FoodTV Canada.

The best looking host on FoodTV Canada though has to be Christine Cushing. She has a huge rack and loves to wear super tight tops :)

Look how quickly I can degenerate a cooking thread into a sexual thing :)

I love 30 minute meals. That is the greatest show for someone just starting out. Those recipes are so easy and most of them are something everyone can enjoy. Everytime I see the show I salivate over the food... I can't wait to get the new cookbook!

Hedgehog 07-29-2003 04:06 PM

You guys stay away from Rachel, she's mine!

(she isn't a trained chef, btw)

bobw 07-30-2003 08:30 PM

She may be worth $20 a day, but definitley not $40 (unless maybe you could convince her to just shut up for a while).

sadatx 07-30-2003 10:18 PM

Who cares if she's the world's greatest chef or even the world's greatest food financial advisor?

Let's concentrate on more important questions like:

Would you hit it?

and the answer is: Yes. Yes I would. Then I would sit down to a quickly prepared meal, which would give me just enough time to regain my...um...composure so I could hit it again.

majik_6 07-31-2003 02:07 PM

I would have to agree with sadatx.

She's not the greatest chef by any means (but then again, Emeril's really not all that people like to say he is), but she is a personable, and very do-able (haven't used that word in a few years!) host that probably identifies very well with the intended demographic.

If that's the question, then there needs to be a Nigella Lawson thread.

/end threadjack

rrf 07-31-2003 08:32 PM

rachael ray fuckin whooped today... she made these elite burritos and she made all these salsas and stuff, oh yes... it whooped.

not to mention the other obvious reasons why she whoops

umm by cheating you mean dishwashers? the food choppers, the cook it until it's 30 mins so that Emeril puts it into the oven and takes out the prefinished one? lining up all the small little ramekins with all the spices? sharpening all the knives? having raw food and materials delivered so that they can make the recipes?

yabobo 08-01-2003 12:42 PM

She's cute and she follows her script well. She travels all
over the world on the food network.:) What's not to love about her? If you don't like her use you remote.:(
I'd love to have her job or at least HIT IT!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Then I'd do the dishes!

splck 08-02-2003 03:27 AM

I'm with Daval. Christine Cushing is a trained cheff that knows her stuff, and she has a nice bod to go with it.

Steveye 08-02-2003 02:33 PM

I think she's kinda flakey sometimes, but I dig her. As far as tax and tip on "40 Dollars a Day", she always adds both except for when she's in Europe or someplace that tipping is not the norm.

And would I hit it? I'd kill that ass.....

As far as the last time I watched the show, they didn't include them in fact they had during the credits that they did not include tax and tip and these were shows in the USA.

I sent them an email telling them that since it was regional you should include the tax and tip so that people would actually be able to go to the city and truly spend $40 a day. After visiting the FOODTV forums well I see that they changed it.

flynAAvy 08-03-2003 09:27 AM

I'm with Steveye... I'd hit it... and hit it some more.
BTW, shouldn't you be looking for a job?
