http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/AS...570431-9444707

Here is the link to the book at Amazon, I flipped through, looks pretty cool!!

TopRamen66 08-23-2003 11:05 PM

<--ehem...ya know i love the stuff. Havent gotten to creative yet tho, i think i may cop a few of these suggestions

flamingpeach 08-24-2003 09:17 PM

i've always added a spoonfull of curry power to my ramen. It's my favorite thing to add to it. I'll also add parmeson cheese or an egg to it.

mmmm mmm good.

Jonsgirl 08-24-2003 09:49 PM

One word: Cheese! I love it melted into the broth. Makes it thicker, and adds a load of flavor.

cub4life78 08-25-2003 08:41 AM

Prison gumbo.....
Ramen noodles
Summer sausage
Chili
Rice
Doritos to top it off with

Basically just cook everything and then mix it together then top it off with said nacho cheese chips. Tha bomb!

tinytim 08-25-2003 11:40 AM

All I ask is please, please for the love of god don't mix them with egg and deepfry balls of them. I figured, ramen is good, everything is better deepfried so why not ramen? I don't know why but it is sooooooooooooooooooo bad.

Xanieth 08-27-2003 10:29 AM

Ok, this is what I do for Ramen when I don't eat it out of a bowl.

1: Scramble 2 eggs.
2: Put all the crap in the bag in the pot of water and start boiling. Putting in the flavoring before you start boiling might infuse the flavor in the noodles rather than just having flavor in the broth.
3: Drain the water.
4: Get a frying pan and put oil in it so it doesn't stick.
5: Put the noodles in there, followed shortly by the eggs. Be sure to cover all the noodles with the egg. If you miss, start mixing it up in the pan.
6: Wait until one side looks crispy (but not burnt) and then flip it over.
7: Wait some more.
8: Put onto your plate, grab fork+knife.
9: Enjoy.

It should end up circular and flat. I call it "noodle pizza" because of the shape.

You can also add Miso and a very tiny bit of ginger powder to Chicken Flavored Ramen. Is niiice.

geeky 09-05-2003 07:56 PM

Be overwhelmed by the Ramen Recipe Database.
http://mattfischer.com/ramen/recipe.html
Look for Slam Ramen. heh.

Caphreak 09-07-2003 12:13 PM

This might sound weird, but eating ramen raw is pretty good. Just break a piece off, (after you sprinkle the spice on the brick) and just chow down. Its a little tough, but it tastes super good!

Ganguro 09-08-2003 11:27 AM

I've taken to adding canned smoked fish (makerel) to my Nom Shim ramen and Udon bowls along with the spices, oil packet, and chili flakes.. It's a really good meal for 2 and it only osts about 3 bucks here.

sigma1042 09-08-2003 12:33 PM

in school we used to crush it up into small pieces and powder, add just a little water to make it pasty and nuke it to make a thick consistency soup

Redlemon 09-08-2003 12:50 PM

I couldn't find the lyrics anywhere online, but there's a great song about Ramen noodles by the a cappella group The Bobs called "Bring to Boil". My favorite line refers to "magic flavor dust".

siryn 09-14-2003 09:39 PM

MMMMMMMMMMMM Ramen! I live in the dorms here at school, and I always steal vegetables from the cafeteria to feed those midnight, midday, midmorning cravings. I like to add broccoli, cauliflower, shredded carrot, mushrooms, mung bean sprouts, and egg. Also, check out this link:

costello 09-15-2003 11:47 AM

WhiteDevil 09-22-2003 02:20 PM

Ramen noodles are the basis for all bachelor civilization.

sailor 09-24-2003 11:24 AM

Yeah man... I live off of Ramen noodles and Easy Mac. College staples--cant live without em.

undulav 09-24-2003 05:58 PM

Curry powder works well, too.

Plaid13 10-13-2003 01:55 AM

ramen is a gift from the gods and the gods charge about 8cents a pack. =) sometimes i like to break them up before i cook them then drain the extra water out and serve them in a salad with some diced chicken or steak

Sexodus 10-22-2003 05:15 AM

ok CHEESE

cook the noodles with as much water as u want!

then drain leaving only about a cup of water left!

ADD Seasoning...

Drain remaining water leaving only 1/4 cup of water.

Place in bowl. unwrap craft single cheese pack (1)
Mix while still hot enough to melt cheeeeeeessssseeee MMMM so good!

Of course this is ramen noodles..... cup 1/2 cup 1/4 cup its not since i dont mesure no water LOL
I guess!!! LOL

Gortexfogg 10-22-2003 07:53 PM

When I heat up ramen, I drain it and add several different combinations of sauces. Mustard by itself, mustard and Worsterchire sauce, mustard and soy sauce, mustard and soy sauce and Worsterchire sauce, mustard and barbeque sauce, barbeque sauce by itself, and any other crazy condiments that taste good. So far I've never gotten any bad tasting mixes.

hansthemolemann 10-22-2003 09:39 PM

I like to cook the noodles in a pan, wait till all of the water has evaporated, put a little oil in and then put any flavoring in. The noodles get crunchy but only put half a packet of flavor or it may be to strong.

keef 10-23-2003 01:51 PM

the trick with ramen is to not let them soak, there is some sort of of oil that is coated on the noodles; some recipies call for soaking noodles before using them, when i tried with ramen they turned out...well they were pretty bad :(

iktoweya 10-23-2003 11:07 PM

Easy melt cheese mixed with some home made chile over the ramen noodles is what i usually do

monkeysugar 11-18-2003 08:09 PM

My favorite way to cook ramen is to cook the noodles, then pan fry them in some peanut oil and/or Thai peanut sauce. Then toss in whatever sounds good to you: protien of some sort, veggies, etc. Nummy!

orange monkeyee 11-20-2003 09:00 PM

whipped eggs. mushrooms. Hell, anything can be added to ramen. any kind of spice will work, any other canned goods , shit, get really drunk and stoned. Then try making some ramen. You'll be surprised how good you can make the shit taste.

RHix613 11-21-2003 01:29 PM

I had the flu once and thought I would eat some noodles. Needless to say I threw the noodles up all over the place and can't think about eating those things without getting sick again.

TheFirstDuffMan 11-26-2003 12:03 AM

Crack an egg in about 30seconds before it's done. It's really good and adds protein.

Chingal0 11-26-2003 01:07 AM

Just had some chix ramen with sriracha in it. F'in tasty.

doodah 12-09-2003 04:21 PM

default_i 12-09-2003 08:12 PM

I'm really lazy... cup chicken flavor ramen all the way! Occaisionally with some garlic, because garlic is friggin awesome. I do feel the distinct need to experiment now, though...

seethreepo 12-12-2003 10:43 AM

add a pack to liptons chicken noodle soup...

for more noodley goodness!

Vizzini 01-04-2004 09:45 AM

this one is real easy to make and tastes real good.

Open 2 packages of Oriental Flavor Top Ramen and remove flavor packets. Heat butter in skillet and add the chopped onion. Sauté onion 2 minutes. Add milk, cream cheese and 1 flavor packet. Cook and stir until mixture is smooth.

DO NOT BOIL. Add carrots, zucchini and salmon and simmer for 5 minutes. At the same time, cook the noodles with the seasoning from the remaining flavor packet for 3 minutes. Drain liquid. Add the ramen noodles to the salmon and vegetable mixture. Toss gently and serve immediately.

Ingredients:

2 packages Oriental Flavor Top Ramen
1 Tbsp. butter
1 onion, finely chopped
1-1/2 cups milk
4 oz. cream cheese, cubed
1 cup carrots, julienned
1 cup zucchini, julienned
2 cans (6.5 oz each) salmon, drained and broken into chunks
Serves 4

Tuna noodle casserole

Here's a recipie that kept me going through college:

take a pack of ramen, boil it up.

drain the ramen, put the noodles, still hot, in a bowl

add 1 tablespoon mayo, 1 slice (american) cheese and one can (drained) tuna.

mix well, to melt the cheese. Sometimes, salt adds to the mix.

Enjoy!

xim 01-23-2004 01:09 AM

OK first you gotta smash the noodles in the bag before you open them...Long noodles suck.

So you put EXACTLY two cups of water in with one bulion cube until it boils then pour the noodles in being careful not to drop the flavour packet in the boiling water.

Then set a timer for three minutes and pour the flavour that it came with in a bowl. Then put some salt in the bowl and an ASS load of chili powder. I like to put some tabasco on top of that also.

when the timer beeps, put four or five ice cubes in the bowl and pour the noodles on top (theres plenty of flavour in there between the packet the chilipowder and bulion cube for the extra water in the ice so dont worry about it).

And there you have it, the best ramen EVER. And Im a discordian pope, which means I'm infallible so don't you dare contradict me.

word to the wise: stop eating ramen, they are cheap an easy but they are aweful for you and have no nutritional value.

Redjake 01-23-2004 05:40 AM

Have any of you looked the sodium content in this crap? I used to eat it almost every day, and then I discovered it was the equivalent of drinking 6 diet sodas when it came to the sodium. That's terrible. As much as I love the stuff (chicken teriyaki.....mmmmm), it will kill all of you one day :) And six cents per pack? Here it's like 15 cents. Still cheap, but not six cents. I wish it were 6 cents.......that would override the health factor and become my new staple :)

NoseyJoe 01-30-2004 02:55 PM

i really like to marinate chicken in italian dressing for the day and bake it. Then i serve it with wild rice and cajun chicken ramen noodles. its delicious, try it.
