What is your favorite food?

Well I was looking threw the junk food thread and it was making me really hungry. But I really don't eat junk food very often (except for pizza). My favorite food is potatoes mainly mashed potatoes.

Whats your favorite food?:)

I'm a huge fan of "one pot wonders"; starch, veg, meat all in one bowl. Hearty soups, pot roasts, even pastas. I love pot roasts tho; beef, veal, pork, venison. Slow cooked over a whole day, stuffed with goodies, garlic, spices. Mmmmmmm.... southern goodness.

Also, because I'm of the McDonald's generation... Fucking french fries. I loooooooove them. They are also the reason I'm developing a gut.

I'm sure I've piped up in the past on this topic but I'll bite again! I love all foods too much to even think of just "one" as a favorite that I would be willing to eat as my sole sustinence. That said, I have a top three. Bacon, potatoes and eggs. All three in the same meal? I'm sooo there (yes, I'm a breakfast whore!).

I will side with the (crock) pot roast. Roast isn't a favorite of mine but my hubby absolutely loves the recipe I found online about 5 yrs. ago. Mix together a packet each of "Good Season's" italian dressing, "Hidden Valley" ranch dressing and whatever "brown gravy" you like or can find. Sprinkle it sparingly over the roast and rub it into the meat. I have a small crock-pot so I mix the left-over mix with about 1 C. of water and pour it over the top. Do what you do for your size crock-pot. For my small one, I can only fit about 4 small potatoes, a cup of carrots and about 3/4 C. ea. of onions and celery, and no more than a 2 1/2 lb. roast on top. I cook it on high for about 4-5 hours normally, turning it to low after that if it has to keep for awhile.

Among my favorites are:
• Lamb Kabobs in a red wine and rosemary sauce with red onions and peppers:

• Cioppino (with scallops, red snapper, shrimp, little neck clams, muscles, calamari, crab, and Sambuca liqueur)

This stuff is magic. It's amazing what you can use it for.

Mix it with balsamic vinegar and olive oil for a killer Greek dressing. Make sure to add lots of feta.

This looks amazing.
Red Snapper is my favorite fish.
But I question the Sambuca...

At the moment it's large curd cottage cheese. Great by itself or with fruit - Yum!

My mom's clam chowder. I have a container of it in my freezer right now. I'm not sure what it is about her clam chowder, but it's the best. I love clam chowder in general, but hers takes the cake.

wooÐs 07-18-2009 07:33 AM

I also love clam chowder but I'm not going to make it lol.

However, if you're going the canned route, ironically enough go with

Way good.

Compared to my mom's chowder, that stuff is foul, so thanks, but no thanks.

Oh, you should give it a shot. You only use a very tiny amount, no more than a teaspoon, the alcohol burns off leaving only a hint of anise taste. It adds complexity to the dish.

Lutefisk reminds me of my childhood. Mmm, Jell-o fish. I will probably always have a soft spot for it.

I despise licorice / anise. That's what concerns me lol.
But I'll look into it. Seafood = food of the gawds :drooool:.

Bear Cub 07-19-2009 09:29 AM

Well, if you were stuck, on an island, that would probably be all you could catch.
