I was just at the 2009 Fancy Food show. It was good as ever. Going to these shows it's very apparent all the different kinds of flavors that are starting to launch or busting out of a category into multiple categories.

What's odd to me is the classification of "gourmet food." Since some of it is obvious, wines, cheeses, candies, chocolates, and sauces.

Then it gets weird.... potato chips, nuts, cookies, crackers, coffee, teas, sodas, juices, flavored spirits...

I don't like frou frou restaurants, but I do like good food and fine dining. I just don't need to have my potatoes infused with leeks and served with confit of quail all the time. I do however like gourmet food I can consume in my own home.

My favorite is jamon serrano and queso manchego viejo. What's yours?
