Jack and Coke slushee?

Hi,

So the other night my wife and her (hot) friend went out for a ladies night, and had what was essentially a jack & coke slushee - served from one of those rotating slushee machines. It's been requested that I try to duplicate this feat. Since I'm always happy to help my wife (and her (hot) friend) get a bit liquored up (Hey, a guy can hope... ;-)), I'd like to try.

We have one of those drum-in-the-freezer icecream makers, and I'm thinking if I start with cold bourbon and cold coke, I might be able to manage something along these lines. Now obviously alcohol will lower the freezing point of the mixture, so too much liquor to coke is contraindicated. Has anybody out there in TFP tried this before? Google search isn't a whole lot of help.

We do these at most of our summer parties:

The principle is the same--alcohol and sugary water freeze into a slush. It could even freeze solid and get scooped out like snow-cone. Managing the serving temp is a critical part of those things.

I think you should get some measuring cups and some tupperware and some jack and some coke, and get experimenting. Here's to good luck with your wife and her (hot) friend!

back in the day we used to do it snow cone style. However, since the alcohol doesn't really freeze and hot weather doesn't help, it's hard to get a consistent mix. I'm not sure if Jack will freeze but the vodka never did. So essentially, you have to add the alcohol after the ice is at a mid point temperature in order to mix it. If you add it when it's just a container of ice, you won't get a good mix. if you add it before it's ice, well it just seemed to sit on top. That was my experience and granted I was drunk so I could be way off.

Step 1: Go to 7-11.
Step 2: Purchase Coke Slurpee.
Step 3: Go home.
Step 4: Add Jack.
Step 5: Enjoy.

Spiked Slurpees are a common summer pleasure around these parts.

MAN I wish we had 7-11s around here. Slusheees just aren't the same.

Put ice in a blender with Jack. Ice crush until smooth, scoop into glass, add Coke (which isn't flat because you didn't put it in the blender like a dumbass.)

edit: drop $5 on those candy straws from 7-11 and it becomes cherry/whatever coke and Jack.

Yeah, that was my thought when the wife mentioned it to me, but she said they had the drink in one of those tumbly frozen drink makers.

I do bourbon and coke or whiskey sour slushees in the blender like a daquiri or frozen margarita. Make a bunch and just keep it in the freezer.

Report:

So, I tried the blender method, and the icecream maker method. The first produced 'chunks' that were a bit bigger than slushee texture, and 'not right' according to the wife + friend. More blending might help. I next tried the icecream maker, and it worked out pretty well. I did 3/4 cu jack, 1 1/2 cu coke, both very cold to start with (the jack was in the freezer). After about 30 minutes, they slushed up pretty well. Then I decanted into chilled glasses, and stuck in the freezer for about an hour, stirring after 30 minutes to prevent chunks.

The ladies approved. I think they could've been a little stronger (no shirts were removed. ;-)), so maybe I'll try closer to 50/50 next time.

frozen jack and coke

Well I might be a little tipsy cause we have worked on this all day LOL...ROFL We go to Chacho's also and have been trying to duplicate their Jack & Coke too...I think we have it close...we took 2 liters of coke and boiled them down to a molasses syrup consistency mb took 1 hour or more. these two liters will mb make 3 blenders of the frozen concoction...in a blender we added 8 oz of Jack and 14 tbs of the syrup concentrate...must use Sonic Ice 1.29 a bag at any Sonic...fill to top of blender with ice and blend. Sonic Ice has air in the ice and blends perfectly...after all this Enjoy..We are!!! Ohhh btw My hottt wife, my wife's Hott Girlfriend and my hot neighbor just got in the pool without their tops...It's a great evening here !! PS..boiling more coke

Whiskey tango foxtrot. Jack Daniels is the best thing ever? Who are you to mix other things with it!?!?!? *storms off mumbling and shaking fist*

I have to say, I'm inclined to agree. Love the Jack neat or on the rocks, but for mixing, I usually go with Beam. It's generally about two-thirds the price, and a fine bourbon anyway; the "charcoal filtering" of Jack is largely lost when you mix it.

Bunny420 08-09-2010 12:29 PM

Jack's better straight from the hip flask. :)

I like Jim Beams Red Stag with Coke. Probably be a great slush mix.

You all were on point with this post.. Through trial and error, you all put this to work. Thanks so much ... we are very tipsy too! LOL
