Your favorite vodka

Personally, http://images3.makefive.com/images/2...151ed32d95.jpg is what I usually fall back on. Great taste for the price.

I admit though, I've never gotten to drink Kettle One or Belvedere (sp), both of which I've heard are great.

Grey Goose is always good, but a bit more pricey, and Smirnoff isn't bad if I'm really hard up for money.

What are you thoughts on vodkas?
What do you mix with your vodka? Personally, its always a vodka cranberry w/ lime. :)

Absolut is just fine with me. It's okay on the rocks, but recently I've taken a liking to gin (which is vodka, simply with some juniper berries). Can we call gin a vodka or am I breaking a rule of spirits? Have I angered the spirits!?

Tried just about all the other top shelf vodkas but I keep coming back to this one. Can be hard to find sometimes so Grey Goose or Belvedere are my second choices.

Blavod is my favorite vodka. It's really smooth and it makes the coolest looking mixed drinks.

I like vodka and cranberry, vodka Collins, and vodka sours.

I had the Reyka a couple of weeks ago when someone bought me a bottle. It was very very nice.

Stoli is my normal inexpensive vodka of choice. I do love Absolut Currant though with some 7UP or Soda.

And has anyone tried the Smirnoff Blueberry? Its really nice with Soda as well.

Ketel One is about as good as it gets. It's the only vodka I drink anymore with the exception of Chopin. For me, I don't mind price as long as it's worth drinking.

Chopin has a nice roundness..and a subtle bite

Ketel has the perfect bite, with good roundness and excellent 'warmth'.

Usually, I drink mine straight, slightly and I mean ever so slightly chilled. Vodka isn't meant to be put on the rocks.

Belvedere is .. ok. It's over hyped and not worth the price tag. Grey Goose is the same. It's a plain vodka with a designer following that isn't deserved.

and will, anyone who likes absolut must certainly anger the spirits  gin is not vodka.

Manic_Skafe 05-05-2009 05:17 AM

I'm a Grey Goose/Belevdere man so much so that I'll pay extra for them. Stoli is okay and Absolut is the Colt .45 of vodkas - there's a reason why if not specified as top shelf open bar, Absolut and Smirnoff are the first to go.

I've heard good things about Reyka but never bothered to check it out. Hopefully I can track it down on my weekly Soco run.

Belvedere is my vodka of choice. I can't stand the taste of Grey Goose or Chopin. I won't touch Skyy or Absolut. If I'm going cheap I will go for Stoli.

Yes, I imagine you have. Gin is not vodka. I'm a gin man through and through. I have to hold back a grimace when I order a martini and they ask me what kind of vodka I want.

interesting that you like Belvedere but hate Chopin. different strokes :) Have you tried Ketel One? I drank Belvedere before I really tried Ketel.

and yes.. I hate when people think a martini is supposed to be vodka. If someone wanted a martini with vodka, they would have asked for a vodka martini ;)

MSD 05-05-2009 10:21 AM

I'm not much of a Vodka person, but of what I've tried, Jewel of Russia was quite a bit ahead of the rest. About $35/750ml at BevMax, and worth the extra over something like Grey Goose that's considered premium.

I think I exaggerated my distaste for Grey Goose and Chopin but I do much prefer Belvedere over those two. And yeah, different strokes pretty much ;) Chopin being a potato vodka might be the reason I don't really prefer it. I have not tried Ketel One because a friend of mine said they hated it...but come to think of it, he likes Absolut so his opinion might be invalid haha. I'm definitely interested in trying it now.

Yeah my friends make fun of me because I tell them over and over that a martini is gin and a vodka martini is vodka!

Your friends are stupid. If I wanted vodka, I'd order something with vodka in it. If I order a martini, I expect gin. But I won't order a martini, I'll have a Manhattan.

yes, his opinion is invalid. Absolut and AristoCRAP are on the same level, Horrible vodkas. If you like Belvedere I think you'll really enjoy Ketel One. I've tried just about everything out there that I can get in the states and it's by far the best IMO.

n0nsensical 05-06-2009 08:18 PM

I only drink Ketel One.. unless it's free.. for bottom-shelf I'll go tequila.

Slushy is best but it takes -20 degrees F to get it that way. There is a Russian restaraunt in Denver that offers infused vodkas nearfrozen that I really enjoy. I enjoy most major brands as they all have somthing a bit different to offer. I used to think the best vodka was the one you couldn't taste, but as with scotch they all have a different character. I suppose if I only got one option from now on I'd take Belvedere.

Summer time Vodka options

vodka Cran with a twist of lime - Cape Cod!!
Tiger WOODS 2 IRON STINGER- HALF LEMONADE/ HALF CRANBERRY JUICE WITH VODKA TO TASTE - OUTSTANDING!!!

That would be Red Square. Max, one of the bartenders is a good friend of mine.

And even though I know Gucci is gonna bitch at me. I really like Smirnoff. But if I have the money... I but scotch.

Zweiblumen 05-18-2009 03:25 PM

Smirnoff or Reykja vodka makes no diffrence to me. Both are excellent degreasers for electronics :-)

Correct you are! I don't know Max, but the chow is pretty good too!

JumpinJesus 05-18-2009 08:09 PM

whatever is cheapest. I don't really give a shit who makes it.

44 degrees north vodka - 44 Degrees North ~ Rocky Mountain Vodka ~ Made in Idaho. made from potatoes, like real vodka should be. sweet, smooth, delicious.

wooÐs 06-13-2009 06:10 PM

#1 - GG
#2 - Ketel One
#3 - whatever. As long as it's mixed with tonic and a twist of lime.

I've always been a vodka drinker. Rum makes me gag. And gin is Pine-Sol.
