Did you just swap in the prociutto for pancetta in the standard recipe? I would have guessed that the prosciutto would be a bit too delicate. Or did you play with the formula?

Red bell peppers stuffed with crab. Wheat penne pasta tossed in olive oil, lemon juice, cracked pepper, salt and grated Parmesan cheese. Oh and aioli.

Bear Cub 01-28-2009 08:33 PM

I love crab, I love penne pasta, I'm done. I can't look at this thread anymore, it's just not fair.

Starkizzer 01-28-2009 08:42 PM

Well to be honest it was imitation crab, were still poor college students.

Salmon & potato latkes. Good for cold weather.

Anormalguy 01-30-2009 08:38 PM

Black-eyed peas (flavored with chopped bacon, garlic, cumin, salt, & pepper) and potatos (cubed, baked with olive oil & Lipton Onion Soup Mix).

Not gourmet, but it sure did taste good.

Since American's call "jam" jelly, what do you call a jelly?

That would be called a Jell-O mold. What you would call "jelly" in the UK is almost always referred to as Jell-O, as it is the predominant brand name here. It's a victim of genericization.

noodle 02-03-2009 03:55 PM

i'm trying to decide between defrosting kick-ass homemade chili to clear out the sinuses but challenge the tummy and a grilled cheese on wheat with defrosted homemade tomato soup that will soothe the tummy but do nothing for the sinus "issue" i was diagnosed with today.

Up here in the Great White North, many of us call that a jelly mold.

It is my understanding that jelly otherwise is fruit juice boiled with pectin and sugar, while jam is made from the whole fruit. Jello is a gelatin dessert. The first two things you spread and toast and such.

And, btw, I'm eating a spinach/broccoli heart/cabbage salad with sliced onion, red peppers, canned pears, feta cheese, and veggie sausage.

snowy 02-03-2009 04:35 PM

I am eating a biscuit with butter and strawberry jam.

genuinegirly 02-03-2009 05:06 PM

I'm about to eat some of a fresh, new loaf of bread:
White wheat flour,
Walnuts,
Apples,
Cinnamon,
Millet.

777 02-03-2009 07:29 PM

Rotini marinara with imitation crab. And I'd like to thank the 99Cent store for providing cheap food. I made a pot of the stuff that serves 4 for $5 :)

And for dessert, a Dove bar that a roomy gave me.

Starkizzer 02-03-2009 09:26 PM

Just had philly steak samwiches and a green salad with cucumbers, tomatoes and sprouts.

Strange Famous 02-05-2009 02:36 PM
