Food Challenges: Denver
Not sure if this is the best place for this, mods feel free to move if needed...
I saw in another topic a place that serves this incredibly artery-clogging burger, too bad it's in Toronto... I was wondering if there were any places in the Denver area that serve something that is so over the top that you HAVE to eat it on a dare. I saw a 50 oz Porterhouse steak at Trail Dust steakhouse, and opted out of it because it was just me and the wife and kid. If I was going there with a rooting section or a competitor, I'd give it a shot. Anyone know of such a place? |
If you happen to be in Colorado Springs anytime from 7-2'ish on a weekday, or 8-afternoonish on a weekend there's King's Chef. Order the Full Grump, or Thing, or if you're really feeling daring a Full Bend-over. If you order it on a dare you'll certainly be called nancy by the employees/owner if you don't finish it (oh, and don't try to pay with a credit card, they're not big fans of checks either).
I don't know if they have them in Denver, but in Idaho Springs there's Beau Jo's. They used to have a massive pizza (I forget how many pounds). Costs about $45 for it. If you finish it you get the pizza free, and a free t-shirt. Otherwise you foot the bill for the monstrosity. |
Ben and Jerrys- get the Vermonster! I think it's something like 20 scoops of ice cream with TONS of toppings. If you can finish it in one setting, you get it for free.

I don't think there are any Beau Jo's left in Denver, they all left about five years ago. Too bad, there used to be one just down the street from my work, it was a great place to have lunch.
