Cooking with jerkey?

So I was laying in bed, eating a midnight snack of beef jerkey. And I was wondering. Has anybody heard of anybody using jerkey in any of their meals? I'm not talking about dehydrating things. I'm talking perhaps marinating the meat with something so it is rehydrated, and doing something with it?

Just a late night idea? I think I might give this a try.

You mean something like shoeleather stew, those type of recipes?

Seriously, you could use it to add a smokey flavor to bean and ham soup(yum, great winter time meal) or anything you want to have that smoke taste.

there are a number of asian recipes that require some jerky, from soups to salads.

Vietnamese Papaya Beef Jerky Salad comes to mind.

a friend of mine who used to work with me once told me of a *"potjie", a *biltong and cheese *potjie but i'll have to get the recipe from her and at work, we have a *biltong salad with lettuce, tomato, cucumber, sliced green and red peppers, *biltong and cashew nuts. to add a little spunk to it, i always recomend to the customer to add some pepperdews. awesome awsome awesome.

*potjie= cooked outside on a fire in a hard steel/metalish pot
*biltong= jerkey

the salad is really awesome. hope you try it cos i know anyone who loves biltong and salad, would love this great combo.
