You know, I never expected tto find *this* in the Cooking forum. But since I did...

I'm 33. My hard-drinking "party every night" days are long gone, in no small part due to my job. When I do drink, it's beer, and nearly always Guinness.

I generally DO NOT LIKE hard liquor at all. Period. The occasional car bomb, maybe Jaeger bomb, but that's it.

All that being said, a friend of mine turned me on to a new concoction which, actually, I quite like. It's not heinously strong, and it tastes good... you just have to be careful. Somewhere into the second or third glass, I find myself naked, climbing a tree, throwing eggs at the neighbor's dog and singing Meat Puppets tunes at the top of my lungs, THEN wondering how it was I got there.

Also, not much of a hangover involved, believe it or not.

Without further ado:

THE GREEN EYED MONSTER

1 x bottle Everclear (Diesel if you're on a budget)
1 x bottle apple schnapps
1 x 42/46 oz. can of pineapple juice
4 x 16 oz. cans of Amp

Mix, shake a bit, chill & pour.

One other aspect I love is that one batch packs the punch (NPI) of about a case and a half of Guinness, so it's a bit more cost-effective for me, at least until I get a kegerator.

My friend claims it also makes him horny as hell, which I guess I could see. It definitely keeps me awake, whether or not it keeps me up all night.

My primary use for grain is blowing fireballs. I used it to make absinthe back when I did such things, and I still mix it occasionally. For drinking, I'm really more of a 151 guy (make a Cuba Libre with 151 instead of rum and you have a Cuban Missile Crisis!)

Absinthe differs from high-proof liquor only in that bad absinthe carries a risk of renal toxicity and most high-proof rum and grain alcohol doesn't taste like Gatorade mixed with lawn trimmings and diesel fuel. Anything past drunkenness is placebo.
Not only will it get runny, if you use too much alcohol or don't mix it with water first, it will denature the colloids that hold it together, leaving you with flavored alcohol and what looks like jizz floating in it.

i heard that the Everclear sold in the states is even lighter than the stuff in Europe. And i had the stuff in Europe, in Ibiza Spain. that stuff will grow hair on your chest. we just did it straight. whew, my god. actually got slightly hallucinagenic after several days of drinking it. never had alcohol give me a 'hallucinagenic trip'. this stuff's dangerous. where we stayed was a big condo/complex on the beach, and our neighbors who were from Switzerland introduced us to it. whew. just whew. neeeded a week to detox after doing that stuff daily.

holy crap i'm sorry, i was thinking Absynthe, not Everclear. disregard.

A wop we made a couple weeks ago that someone claimed was "the best wop in the histroy of wops" went something like this. In a 5 gallon bucket, about one and a half liters of everclear, 2 mike's hard limes, half a bottle of smirnoff, 5 cans of squirt pop, 2 jars of maraschino cherries, strawberries, grapes, watermelon, a can of pineapple chunks with juice, the rest of the room filled with 3 parts country time lemonade, 1 part fruit punch, leavin a little room at the top for ice, let the fruit and all the liquid sit overnight and all day the next day and then put the ice in before serving, made two of these, no hangovers or vomiting to be heard of and everyone loved it. think in the next one we're gonna use lime juice instead of the mikes and some pink lemonade as well

Maybe bumping the thread but has anyone ever actually tried absynthe? one of my favorite fictional characters (Alouisius Pendergast) refers to it. My father in law has a bottle but neither of us has had the guts to try it and since he just had a stroke I guess it might be up to me????

Czech Ritual
(with sugar and fire)

1. Pour 4-6cl of Absinthe in a glass.

2. Put an Absinthe spoon with a sugar cube on it on the glass. Drip a little Absinthe on the sugar and light it.
3. Wait until the fire is gone out. Slowly pour water over the sugar cube, so the sugar melts and the water gets into the glass.
4. Mix the content of the glass with the Absinthe spoon.
5. Enjoy.

French Ritual
(with sugar, without fire)

A week ago, I was drinking Everclear, and Grape NOS. Proportions were to the point where the burn was only slight. I only remember an hour of that night. I woke up, in my own vomit, the half a bottle of vodka I had was gone, I was short three bears, one I found outside broken, and my everclear was quite less then I remember. According to witnesses I also almost kissed another man. Never again.
