Heineken Light
Anybody try this stuff yet? It came out in bars & restaurants on March 1st and was scheduled for stores on April 1st......but apparently the demand was huge because I just bought a 12 pack 2 days early last night. These things are delicious, I highly recommend them...

I dunno....

Light beer is reserved for pregnant women and little kids.
(jk on the pregnant women thing. FAS IS PREVENTABLE. Don't consume alcohol when pregnant. No type, amount or time is safe) |
I've heard that "Meathead's Motto" before....I'm heavy into all varieties, but there are certain times for light beers in my humble opinion (with the exception of Coors Light...I would be embarrassed to have one in my hand). Heineken Light, Amstel, Sam Adams Light, all good beers regardless of their light status.
For example, NCAA basketball parties on St. Patrick's Day that last from 10:30am-midnight, or hot sunny days on the beach when the final tally may reach 20+. I hear where you're coming from but respectfully disagree... |
I always thought Amstel Light WAS Heineken's version of light beer??? No?
Heineken is perhaps my most hated beer, therfore I never tried Amstel Light nor do I plan on trying Heineken Light, so... Nothing to see here, move along. |
Heinekin I've never liked because i thought it was bitter.. Amstel light is actually pretty good, not light beer tasting at all - and doesn't have the color that most light beers have...
|
Amstel is its own brand, though they are both Dutch beers. My dad usually swaps off between Heineken and Amstel Light depending on what he can get at Costco. I prefer the Amstel Light because it's smoother, but I'll have to try the Heinie Light before coming to a definite conclusion. Heineken Light has promise.

Heineken?! Fuck that shit! Pabst! Blue! Ribbon!
Ah, Dennis Hopper at his best. As for me, what Dennis said but substitute Baltika for Pabst. I was done with Heineken when I figured out that like all the other hall marks of the frat boy graduate, it doesn't help pick up chicks. |
Ahh man, now I'm gonna have to watch Blue Velvet this weekend...or at least that scene. Have had it saved on my DVR for a few months...glad I didn't erase it yet.
|
I don't like Heineken. I doubt I'll like Heineken Light, but I'll give it a try, just like everything else I come across.
If I want a lighter beer, I usually just buy small beer. If I want somethign for a hot day, I'll pick up a nice wheat beer. |
to me heinie is skunk... stinks like skunk... tastes like vinegar...
|
Heineken is usually hated when compared to american beer. It's a shame they're lowering their standards and producing a light beer.
If you don't like Heinies, you don't like good beer. |
Heineken in the U.S. is utter garbage. An "import" by label only. It is a cruel joke of an adaptation created solely for the N.American market. Yuck. The native version is completely different and worlds better. Downside: you'll never want the U.S. version of Heineken again.

That said, I drank lots of beers in Holland that were better than Heineken. |

Like splck said, though, when you're there, there are much better beers to be had. |
Eh? Balderdash. I thought they tasted completely different. Three of we beer snobs tried the bottles side-by-side and agreed. My NL roomie made a point of showing us after trying the stuff I'd been buying.
If nothing else the alcohol content is/was double our own. Tough to get the taste the same with the alcohol conent that far apart. Oh, the NL bottles were much larger but I'm not allowing that to color my taste. :) |
Im in Canada, so i dont know what kind of Heine Im drinking up here, but I always thought of a heine as a pretty light beer.
can someone explain to me what a light beer is? is it simply alc. content? |
