Thai foods?
Anyone have any experience cooking thai foods? What recipes have you been successful with?

Beef with Mint, Beef with Basil, Massaman Curry, Penang Curry...
all those are really simple to make the curries require a paste which gets easier and easier to find in most Asian markets. |
I LOVE Thai food! LOVE! I eat it out a lot and have cooked it several times. I've made my own yellow thai curry which turned out oddly well. Homemade curries don't keep well, but they're worth it. Barnes and Noble has a good Thai Cookbook (store brand book) that shows you how to prepare a lot of the individual components and then put dishes together. Yum!

Beef with basil is easy to make, oh so tasty and uses ingredients that are readily available. It's really just beef, basil, fish sauce, soy sauce, garlic and chili sauce... the fish sauce and chili sauce are very easy to find in pretty much any super market.
Tom yum soup is probably one of my favorite thai foods, but since moving away from the NYC area to the sticks of NH.... Lemon grass and kafir lime leaves are impossible to find... but other than that - check your local library or bookstore for a thai cookbook and start exploring recipes... |
