easter sunday in Uckfield
 

Open invitation - I will be in Uckfield easter sunday at Sussex Horse Rescue Trust, Hempstead Farm, Hempstead Lane. Its open day, and there will be a farrier demonstration, a parade of sponsored horses, pony rides. Come meet humans victims who have found safety - and the people with heart who help them on their road in life after they have been abused, neglected and abandoned.
Meet Blossom the pig - who got a card to vote last elections.
I hope its okay to post this - sorry if it isnt - there are refreshments available - but not alcohol as no licence. There is a very nice pub just up the road for on the way home if thats more inviting.

i'd love to but its a 6hr flight from here. I'f it was in my backyard i'd have definately come for a good cause.

There are a few english folk here on TFP, so you may have better luck with them.

I drive past Uckfield from time to time, and it always amuses me that the raodsign over the River Uck is shaped so as to leave no spare room around the words to allow an "F" to be added.

Daniel - do you ever go past on 5th November for the effigy parade/burning. Sounds like a lot of fun. Maybe I will see you there on Sunday - bring your friends - more bums on seats means more help for the horses.

It was too hot to stay all day. Picked up some cards one of the old gals had drawn - favorite is of Toffee, who has one ear perked up, and the other side the mane swept forward and over like an old Hollywood star. Toffee was found having been savaged by dogs as a baby. Toffees vet could not save the ear the dogs tore into badly. Toffee got better, grew up, had a special bridle made and worked with children teaching them to ride, and has now retired from work, though not from adoration as toffee likes to be adored on open days.
Season closing will be in september.
