Last Minute Toronto (or possibly Kingston) meetup
So Seamaiden and I totally dropped the ball on the planning stage of our thanksgiving trip to Kingston. On the last leg this morning, I, all of a sudden thought, "Damn, we are here for a week, I should have organized a TFP meetup in Toronto."
So here it is: What say you to a last minute TFP meetup (supper, drinks, etc.) in Toronto on Thursday (Oct 7) or Friday (Oct 8)? If that isn't possible, and any Kingston boys are heading here for thanksgiving weekend, a Saturday lunch is possible. We are heading back to Halifax on Sunday, Oct 10.

Awesome.
I should be available on either Thursday or Friday.

I nominate Friday. I could probably make either day work, but I'd just as soon go out on the night before my four day weekend, rather than the night before my next day at work, ya know?
Plus I need to get my licence renewed and Thursday is the only day of the week the MTO is open late, according to Google. Mags should be good to come to either, due to the whole unemployed thing.

I'd have to leave the specifics to those who know the city better, since I've only been here two weeks. But dinner and/or drinks sounds good to me. In fact, it sounds like pretty much the ideal way to cap off the week.

That works for us, so Friday night, time-ish? We want to be on the road back to Kingston by 9 at the latest, so how about around 6? I've sent pm's to all torontonians that I can think of, but if anyone think of anyone to let know, please do.

I spoke with aberkok last night and he indicated he'll be unable to attend. That pretty much just leaves kramus unaccounted for, in terms of the Toronto crowd who we're still regularly in touch with. amonkie was able to get cello to come out of hiding the last time she was here, but she's not really active anymore here so I don't know if sending her a PM will do a lot of good.
6 at the Duke is fine for me. I may be a few minutes late, but not by much.

I got a pm from Kramus, he'll be absent, unfortunately. I've sent a pm to Leto,Seige, Settie, Cello as well. Seamaiden is going to feel pretty out-numbered at the table.

This is a great (impromptu) idea. unfortunately I am working in Washington DC this week & next. I'll be home briefly Friday afternoon, but that is just to pack and go to the cottage for Thanksgiving.
Have a good time... And Happy Thanksgiving!

Ba-dump bump.
This turned out to be a good evening. A surprise visit by Kramus and his lovely lady was much appreciated, and good food was had by all. Thanks for coming all that way to see us, Lucifer and Seamaiden! I hope the trip back to Kingston was tolerable. Sadly, Magpie forgot to bring her camera. Happily, Seamaiden did not. Hopefully pictures will follow soon.

Sorry for the delay, had to drive back home to Nova Scotia before being able to upload pictures! We had a great time and great food. Baraka Guru was a no show, but surprise guests Kramus and Madli made up for it. Happily, Kramus and Madli offered us a spare bed for the night, so we didn't have to face a long nocturnal drive back to Kingston. Thanks to everyone for coming out, and a big thanks to Kramus and Madli for the bed and the belated wedding gift.
Here are the anticipated photos: Magpie and Martian Kramus and Fresnelly Madli and Kramus

Thanks for the photos Lucifer. It was great to finally meet your Seamaiden Glad you could use our place, and thanks for putting on a cheery face when I kept showing off the artwork hanging around the place. Too bad you had to get on the road so quickly. Unless it was self-preservation in the face of unrelenting displays of said artwork.
Madli and I were glad to spend time again w Fresnelly, Magpie and Martian as well. Someday, BG, I will see you in 3D

Looks like it was fun!
Sorry for ducking out of the evening. I was having a bad day and was feeling drained and exhausted by the time the afternoon rolled around. To give you an idea: that night I slept 13 hours, and still went for a 2-hour nap the following afternoon. That's double the sleep I normally get. Maybe I was fighting something off and I spared you of it. My SO is a teacher, so I get exposed to pretty much everything.
