It starts...

As of 2:00 p.m. today, I'll hit the road and I also will document my road travel and update it here.

Keep a look out on this thread and if you are fast enough, you can see if I will pass by you and put it up here if you want me to fly by.

This is the planned route..

Watertown, NY 13603 to Fort Huachuca, Sierra Vista, AZ 85613 - Google Maps

this is the alternate route..

Watertown, NY 13603 to Fort Huachuca, Sierra Vista, AZ 85613 - Google Maps

That first route brings back memories of old route 66.

Cross country trippin' is/was a blast.

May your adventure be filled with happenings!

Started late, didn't clear the base until 3:50 pm, so I had to make up time on the drive.
Current location:

Watertown, NY 13603 to Angola, NY - Google Maps

Having some McD's and a stretch.. Also to check in..

Amonkie: As much as I'd like to visit you my time-frame not permit me the luxury.
I am keeping the option IF the opportunity arises.

WK: Hell yeah! I'd make the visit if I can during my 4 month stay, so lets keep that open..

Update:
The car blew a headlamp and then the electronics started jacking up, so after wondering around Cleveland for almost 2 hours (the GPS seems to have lost satillite connection..)
I pulled over at a Super 8 to crash for the night.

Watertown, NY 13603 to Westlake, OH 44145 - Google Maps

Will update more when I hit the road again..

Update:
I felt I wanted to put some serious mileage on the road today and atleast hit St. Louis but that was not to happen, seems like people around here lose their minds when trying to leave the state before the weekend / holidays. I have passed like 3 accidents and witness a trucker blowing out tires.like 3X I was forces to sit in traffic like 45 minutes until the crash got cleaneds up or people driving REEEEAAAALLLLYYY slow bottle-necking.

My current location for the night is here:

Watertown, NY 13603 to Cloverdale, IN - Google Maps

We'll see what tomorrow what the road has in store for me..

I've done driven Route 66 twice, once in the way back days and just beginning of this year.

Might do it this trip too..

i still say you should park in Chicago and wait out the holiday traffic - 4th of july is probably one of the worst weekends to be on the road.

Update:

Took the initative to put some miles down today so if I take tomorrow off due to the holidays, I wont be too backed-up then have to make up time later on, so I traveled this route today and now bedding down to rest my aching ass..
