Chicago for New Year's
Hello my lovlies....
I will be in Chicago for New Year's. I really don't know if I can do a meet-up as I am going for my friend's 30th birthday. The whole time should be all about him, but if I get a few seconds or if anyone wants to join us while we're out and about, let me know. When I know definite plans (like if we will in fact go to Buckingham Fountain for New Year's eve) I'll let y'all know. I'm going to try and make Cinna go too! |

This is REALLY funny. I'm going up for New Year's too. I'll be there from the 31st to the 2nd.
EDIT: I know for sure I'm seeing JJ and Shesus as I'm staying with them... who else is free that weekend?

That's OK Gucci, we're used to that from you
I may or may not have to work during the day on New Years Eve. I'll have a better idea closer to the date.

IF I can manage to get off work, I'm there. However, that's not looking too likely. And calling off means I'm fired.
I SHOULD be able to make it in July, though.

Ok loves....
Looks like Friday will be the only time I can sneak away. I'll probably be having lunch/brunch with the bday boy, but could meet up for coffee or drinks later. Say 3? Suggestions are always welcome...as in a better time and a place. I'll most likely be spending my time in Wrigleyville, but can catch the El or a cab and meet peeps anywhere... Let me know. |

Goose Island Beer has a Wrigleyville location: Goose Island You should check it out if you're going to be in that neck of the woods, ZombieSquirrel. Also, the Hopleaf Hopleaf Bar is fairly easy to get to from there, but we found the Hopleaf to be a lot louder than Goose Island.

If you want to stay in the Wrigleyville area, Uncommon Ground is a great choice. Supports local artists, uses local organic food, very friendly to the LGBT community. They have a nice mix of a full bar and excellent food so you're set for whichever you prefer. Uncommon Ground
If you want to venture a little further, I would also suggest Xoco downtown. It's one of Rick Bayless' new restaurants, and you have to get there at a good time or risk standing in line for half an hour or more, but it's worth it! XOCO: Restaurants - Rick Bayless | Frontera

I second Uncommon Ground. If you're going to eat, it's not the cheapest choice, but it's damn good and you (usually) get a good show.
I recommend Irish Oak. They also have live music and probably the best bar atmosphere in Wrigleyville. A place to chill and have a beer.

Let's see - 3 on Friday in Wrigleyville....
Goose Island and Uncommon Ground are both great. I love both spots. They'll both probably be pretty dead, though. There's also Salt & Pepper, which is a great little dive diner. If you're looking for a good neighborhood bar, though, and not something that's "touristy", then go to Cody's Public House at Barry and Paulina (1 block west of Ashland, 1 block south of Belmont). My all time favorite bar in the entire world. I've been to wedding receptions there, barbeques (they have a beer garden in the summer), Bears games with food served by the owner's wife.... It's fairly quiet and they have lots of different things on tap. If you're headed there, let me know. I might try to sneak away.

I've got a pass from The_Wife for 3 on Friday, so I can escape for a couple of hours. She's shopping with a friend the next day, so it's a decent trade.

It was cool meeting you ZombieSquirrel. We'll go to the Closet the next time you're in.
It was fun having conversations involving Brad Pitt and his tibia.

Note to self - this is proof that Cinn is into other chicks. She can't be talking about me, and since the object of the sentence is plural, I need to remind Eden to take pictures.
Also, that was a lot of fun. It should happen more often.
