Pony visits Chicago! Nov 6-7
I have finally found a weekend to come up and visit the beautiful Monkie, as well as hopefully meet some of the rest of you TFP Chicagoans.
I'm planning on arriving early afternoon on Friday, Nov 6 and staying through early morning on Sunday the 8th (I need to get to SE Indiana by mid-day Sunday for a ski/snowboard swap sale). This gives Friday evening and virtually all day Saturday to plan some sort of meetup, and I'm hoping at least some of you are free! Please post here if you think you will be available and/or have a suggestion for a venue or activity.

I'm obviously in!
Hopefully the weather will give us quite a few options.... Anything in particular you're game for?

RangerJoe - I have room for 1 one more... would you be able to find a place for your son overnight with this much notice? We'd love to have you!

I'm around that weekend but I have a dinner that Friday night. I don't show anything for Saturday at the moment, though. Worst case, maybe we can meet up somewhere up on the North Side since I'm fairly close to Monkie (about a mile or so away).

OK, so dinner on Friday. Pony mentioned she'd love a place with some good and reasonable mixed drinks.
Anyone interested in doing dinner at Fireside? Address is 5739 N. Ravenswood Ave., Roughly Ravenswood and Peterson. Also any other dinner suggestions for Friday - does not neccessarily have to be pizza, but reasonable in price would be nice. Jazz - maybe we can hit you up for breakfast at Ann Sathers or The Heartland Cafe, or stop at Hopleaf for a drink or 2.

Due to some new developments at work, I'm not 100% positive I'll be free Friday evening. No matter what, I should be free for some time after 8, but before then is less clear right now.

Okay, I'm here! We went to Fireside for dinner last night (yum) and I elected for coming back to Monkie's place and essentially crashing, because, well, I was tired!
Today we're planning on heading down to Navy Pier and such. Wandering. I don't have any set thing I want to do for sure (the Field Museum would require about three days), so if any of you want to get together, PM me your phone number (my phone gets my emails, and my PMs show up in email, yay) and we can try to make it work. Jazz, I plan on getting on the road hopefully before 9 tomorrow morning (preferably by 8, even), so if you want to get breakfast EARLY with your munchkins in tow, that can be arranged.

Pony, so sorry I wasn't able to get out last night After we finished, we ended up taking our volunteers out for a bite to eat, so I wasn't free until 10 and still had to drive home afterwards :/ Glad to hear you enjoyed Fireside though... maybe sometime this afternoon I might have an hour downtown, but it's hard to say. I'll PM you if it turns out I do.

Sorry guys. I just got back from taking Max to the doctor, and he's being treated for H1N1. I had to call it an early night last night, and I don't think that anyone really wants to hang out at my house now.
