Deal or No Deal
Anybody watch this new week long "event". I missed the first episode on Monday, but taped it Tuesday. It was pretty good at first. I watched one guy do the suitcase thing and it was cool. I watched him give up about 250,000$ to keep going and he wound up taking 189,000 instead of his suitcase. When it was opened he would have gotten 10,000. So, he made out pretty good. It was fun and everything, but I just couldnt get myself to keep watching. It seemed like it was just going to be too repetetive. Plus there is no trivia for you to play along with. Anyway, I wont be watching it anymore, what are your thoughts?

I saw the first episode on Monday, and it caught my attention for a while, but like the previous poster said, it was just too repetitive. I must say that I laughed out loud when her family told her not to take the deal and pick suitcase #8, which contained $500,000, so she ended up going home with $25,000 instead of the $138,000 that was offered to her.

it was entertaining for an episode, but after that I can't see myself watching. as you said there's no audience participation so boring.

As opposed to what? Emaciated East Costers? Wispy West Coasters? Perhaps you should blame the pasty Brits or the awful Aussies or the greasy Italians or one of the 30+ other countries that it was/is popular in before it came to the US. |
I saw it tonight (Wed). It was entertaining for about 15 minutes and then it waned.
The gimick isn't interesting enough, imo. Regis was at least entertaining. |
It gets boring real fast, and the calls from the "banker" are silly... At least with Millionaire you had questions to answer, this is like watching someone play the same game on Price is Right over and over again.

...and I'll let you off with the 'pasty' comment this time... you fat bastard. |
I must admit, I was amazed to see Goblin Edmonds back on TV, and presenting a 'high-pressure' game show of all things. Last time I heard from him, he was on Radio 2, filling in for the cancerous Johnnie Walker, and giggling dangerously at everything.

Eh, it's the kind of show you have on in the background while you do menial chores, like fold laundry and iron shirts. Last night, I had it on while wrapping presents.
It could also find a niche, showing on muted TV sets in Bars, along side Football, 24h news channels, aerobics instruction, and porn. Occasionally, you can look up and yell: "TAKE THE DEAL YOU IDIOT!", and then go back to chopping or dicing or whatever. High praise indeed. ;) |
Yep put it on DVR (like tivo) so something I can have in the background next week, since there is nothing new on tv next week.

I quite liked it for a while but it's wearing thin rather
quickly. And Noel Tidybeard gets on me tits a bit. |
Seeing as I minored in statistics in University, I was blown away by the whole thing.
Then the rush of adrenaline left as quickly as it had arrived, and I was left in my living room, having the mathmatical equation (payoff matrix) in my head. What a letdown. It would be cool to see someone with four cases left and have them at 400,000 500,000 750,000 1,000,000 But, being the virtual banker, I would see the offer at 662,500 bucks. And I could do without the drama from the contestants. |
