The Descent

http://imdb.com/title/tt0435625/

I thought this movie was awesome, although the ending left me a bit soured. If you're in the mood for a good horror, don't let the 7.4 IMDB fool you, this is quality horror.

Spoiler:
Did she dream the exit from the cave? or did she flashback to the cave after escaping?

Either way, those fuckin morlocks were insanely creepy... very well done

However, I have to question some of the stuff these people were doing in that cave... running blindly through the dark... I've never even BEEN spelunking and I know you don't do that... crevases (sp?) everywhere

I highly recommend if you're a fan of horror you see this.

I just watched this last night. At first (well, after the first little bit) I was unsure about the movie due to the all-female cast spending some time drinking and joking and doing some pretty boring stuff. I was afraid the whole movie would be like that. I'm glad I was totally wrong

Spoiler: As I understand it, she dreamed of escaping, but it didn't really happen. Kind of a "even if I get away, I'll never be free of it." That last bit with her daughter and the candles fully signaled her complete descent into madness, and I believe she actually became one of those creatures at the end of it all.

Yeah, those morlocks were perfectly done. And the way they're intro'd with little glimpses.. and then seeing it close up through a night vision camera standing right behind one of the girls.. gave me shivers.. very very well done.

As for the things they do vs. common sense... it's a horror movie, it's expected they'll do dumb things now and then

Overall an awesome horror flick (and I'm usually not a fan of horror movies). Check it out. I started this moving thinking "hmm, spelunking.. that'd be cool". And by the end of it I don't want to go anywhere near a cave...

I can't find any reference to the book of the same name by Jeff Long, but I can't see how this was not borrowed from his novel. Same name, same setting, same plot-lines, other than the all female cast. Has anyone read that book?

I have, I thought it was a pretty good book myself when I saw this thread title I was like cool I didn't know they made a movie based on it (let alone a good one). Looking at IMDB it sounds similar so i'll have to check it out. I am curious if Jeff Long gets any credits for this or is it one of those similar but just different enough where they don't have to do anything.
