I want a Plaid crayon

I think a good epic needs at last a few plots Im really getting sick of seeing movies where its just some good guy vs the bad guy with a weak plot and a very weak secondary plot thats normaly some kinda bad space filler. i want to see long movies that have 3 or 4 diffrent storys happening in it. say the main characters life is what the movie is about it should have some random adventure or whatever about when they were a kid then as a teen then middle aged then one at the end of life. i like seeing movies where the characters evolve throughout the movie. But its so rare i can hardly think of any that its happened in. star wars it does through all 6 movies. the only movie i can think of off hand that was just a single movie that i would even really call a epic would be ben hur.
The whole concept of the epic is dead or on the verge of death if its not dead already. the new movies are all hey lets pay the sexy people too much and lets blow up alot of stuff and hope people dont notice the plot sucks. Movies are getting worse by the day.the end of the 70s was basicly when epics went out of style. the end of the 80s was when good comedys gave way to hey lets stick a stupid person on the screen and let people laugh at them. If movie makers ever stop being lazy and get a good plot and spend the money they have on unknown but skilled actors and take advantage of the good effects that could be something great. but... they are just trying to make money. all they need to do that is about 30 seconds to make one hell of a good preview that makes the movie look great. the rest of the movie could be totaly worthless once you buy your ticket they have the money and they are done. so they will make the lowest quality movies possible and still make money. I think the only real hope is when movie editing and special effects are cheap enough and easy enough to do that independant film makers could make wild off the wall epics without investing much money at all and still have a very nice looking movie. |
