What is this movie?

It starts out in black and white. Some dude jumps in a lake to save someone who has crashed their car into it. He dies. Now the movie is in color. The dude is in heaven. He falls in love, but the chick decides she wants to live. He has to go back to life and try to find her.

I saw it a long time ago. It probably came out early to mid 90s. Thanks.

Uh, you might try being a bit more vague.

I'll take a stab and say, "What Dreams May Come" starring Robin Williams.

I can't believe that's the one you were describing. I remembered it a little differently.

You really think my description was vague? How many movies involve someone falling in love while in heaven? I think that's pretty specific. It wasn't "What Dreams May Come" I haven't seen that, and in that he trys to find his wife who he was in love with before he died. The movie I'm thinking of is similar to that though.

Okay, let's try to coax a little more info out here.

What did the man look like? Height? Hair color? The woman, what did she look like? What did heaven look like? Time period of the movie? Does he find her at the end?

I'll keep thinking about it...

That's it! Thanks. I forgot to tell you the man was wearing Nike shoes in it. I don't know how you found it without that information.

Well damn! Knowing he had Nike shoes would have made it infinitely easier! And all this time I was searching for loafers.

I know you already solved it, but the first thing that came to mind for me was Defending Your Life http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0101698/combined with Albert brooks.

That's funny, because the description that comes up in IMDB for 'Made in Heaven' is, "What Dreams May Come" meets "Defending Your Life".

OK, just to throw in my 2 cents

I found 'What dream's may come' boring. it put me to sleep. I liked the story line. and the message. but the characters where so flat and cardboard. Even William's anttics couldn't help.

Defending your life was good. I enjoyed how the main character came to gribs with his fears.

Never seen Made in Heaven. but it sounds like a moive I would enjoy. I'll try to check it sometime
