What is wrong with this year's TV programs?
After watching most of the adult evening television
programs on ABC,CBS and NBC I can sum them all up by saying: They are all too long, too boring and none of the mystery,Sci-Fi and Alien invasion types have any of the "X-FILES" qualities in them. Fire all of the writers and send out for CHRIS CARTER at once! Perhaps he might start a crash course for TV Program writers and instruct the other "Writers" in how to form interesting,scare-your-pants-off stories. IF you don't remember Chris Carter was the creator of the great X-FILES TV series. He had one hour, almost complete stories in his series that had scary beings, good actors, mysterious government cigarette smoking men, alien/horrible monsters and lots of twists and turns with NO FLASHBACKS that do not add much to the story except take up time. NIGHT STALKER is a horrible show of the 1965 original that had lots of interesting things going for it. LOST is goofy with all of the many characters that no one cares about and the constant FLASH BACKS keep coming up to take up time and try to build character background. INVASION, SURFACE and THRESHOLD are endless hours of many people talking about weird events, with NO action taken. GHOST WHISPERER is very predictable each week. No surprises. The only good thing about this show is the star: Jennifer Love Hewitt. Well what do I like on TV? The ONLY interesting, entertaining shows on broadcast TV are: DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES and BOSTON LEGAL. |

I don't really like x-files, didn't think it was that good, just average. On the other hand of any of the other shows you mentioned i only watch lost, which i think is a pretty good show. Some people must like the shows you mentioned or else most of them wouldn't be on the air, watched the alien invasion one, man that show sucked, it reminded me of well alomst every alien invation movie since after Signs came out.

I myself am really hooked on My name is Earl, Criminal Minds and Bones

I'm just watching all the hockey I can until Rescue Me and The Shield come back with new seasons. At which time, I will be watching as much hockey, Rescue Me, and The Shield as I can. Network tv is a joke. I can actually feel myself losing brain cells when watching any shows on network air.

RonRyan85, you forgot House's Fox, and I'm not a Desperate Housewives fan. Otherwise, I agree with you. It's too bad the new Doctor Who isn't aired in the US :( (There aren't any new episodes on at the moment anyway)

Yeah, House is very much worth watching, and you're right on with Boston Legal as well. I watched Desparate Housewives last year, and about halfway through it lost it's appeal for me. This season seems to only be continuing that trend. CSI, the original, is also pretty decent. Not as qaulity of writing as House or Boston Legal, but still entertaining and worth the time I think. Of course there's also Family Guy and American Dad, funniest shows around.

I'm anxiously awaiting the return of the new Battlestar Galactica.
Until then, it's mostly History Channel or Discovery for me. |
I'm all about Grey's anatomy, not only is it a nice follow-up to Housewives, but it turns out it's actually Better!!!

Rome has been good so far, that along with Over There, Lost, Arrested Developemen, Prison Break, waiting for CSI to come back. The new shows by and large are horrible, at least network debuts. Invasion/Surface come to mind immediately, but already established shows are still doing well, and there are plenty of them.

Add Law and Order: SVU and Prison Break and I concur |
I think there are too many Alien shows. Threshold started out looking the best but got really boring and repetetive. Invasion still has my interest, but i want more. Its not aliens, but it seems the same: Surface has been good all season.
I also am hooked on Criminal Minds and Bones. Criminal Minds is awesome, and Bones just grew on me. Lost, amazing. I dont see how anyone could not like it. Nightstalker is pretty good, but i wouldnt say it was bad. Ive also started to really like Killer Instinct. With the exception of threshold, i would say im completely satisfied with all the new shows this year. Oh yeah, Prison Break is great too. |

I also think ER is getting back its stride. It's interesting again. |
I've definately gotten hooked on handful of shows over the last couple years. 24, Smallville, Lost, Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy, Boston Legal, Malcolm in the Middle... gah, that's way too much, i've got to slow down! Definately learning to appreciate my DVR. But no new shows this season have sucked me in, fortunately.
I'm just happy that the reality craze is slowing down... or maybe I've just learned to ignore those shows. |
House is probably my favorite current show right now.

I'm happy to see more scripted television, and that people are getting back into it. I'm guessing the writers are just out of practise, and all their good ideas were rejected during the reality craze.
