Can I say for the 456th time how fucking lame "non-elimination" legs are. If you want to stretch your episode count, have more teams
|
Well, non-elimination rounds do make it slightly more interesting because the team that would've been eliminated starts with nothing.
My gripe, is the fact that there was a yield (or whatever it's called that makes a team wait for the hourglass to empty), and it was a non elimination round. The whole point of the yield is to slow a team down to hopefully make them lose. And yet this was a leg of the race where the slowest team didn't lose. What's the point of giving the ability to yield if it becomes worthless? Especially since there are limited yields in the whole race. The Weavers look like they weren't wearing everything they had, so they won't have much to use. And seeing as how the other teams hate them anyway, I wonder how they'll get money. Maybe the mom will whore out her daughters while continually saying that God would not disapprove. |
Lets hope the next leg goes to Alaska. They won't have any clothes and will drop out - or freeze.
|
I love how the Weavers get mad at the Linz's for holding an arm up to them as they pass yet the Weavers throw garbage at the other teams and they see that as fine behavior. That family needs a collective slap in the face, or they need to pull their collective heads out of their asses.
They keep claiming that everyone else is against them, but I wonder if they ever stop to think why everyone else is against them. Possible because they act like asshats to everyone. Hopefully they don't last much longer. Just remembered something 6 mile bike ride and those fat assed girls, yeah that isn't going to be easy at all, I can't believe they thought it would be. |

Mmm...from the worst greeter to one of the best. I liked that the Weavers took a shot at the Mormons, um, at least I think they did, but they still managed to be unfunny while doing so. I know I couldn't go three feet through Utah without taking some Mormon shots. It's almost like they were trying to go as slow as possible on this leg. Then more encouragment from Dr. Phil; really, Phil, that isn't necessary, this is reality TV not talk about our feelings psychiatry hour.
While watching some of the old seasons, I've realized there's one thing about this season that's definitely an improvement: no more taxicabs. Those things are awful for a lot of reasons, first the competition, teams really are at the mercy of their drivers and sheer luck to get one who gets them where they're going quickly. Second because it's annoying to hear the teams bitch and moan constantly about their drivers and do the ugly American thing by trying to get them to go faster all the time. What really made me think of this was Hayden in season 6, I can't stand her, she's as bad as Flo, constantly whining about everything and bitching at Aaron, who's just taking it easy, to do something about it. At least Flo didn't constantly bitch AT Zach though she did do a lot of bitching in general, and at least her whiny voice was sexy. ;) The cab delays aren't a big deal when there are still a lot of teams in the race, but I think for the last few critical legs they should give teams their own vehicles so the outcome isn't so much determined by their luck with drivers. |
Does anyone know if the Weavers have been interviewed or commented publicly during the run of the show?
Would be interesting to hear how they defend themselves. |
These 'production errors with the cameraman draining the battery' really suck ass. Didnt bother me so much when it happened once, but when it happens again? Thats bullshit. Thankfully the round isnt over so the Linz's can catch up.
It woulda been nice to see them freaking out at the side of the road at the dumbass camermen though. Good episode though. I love the editing of the Weavers - they really look bad. And the Godlewski's, although the one sister is particularily annoying and whatnot I do feel kinda bad for her cause I share some of those same traits where I try to jump into things headfirst. She's enthusiastic as hell and not as bad as her sisters may think. They need to come together as a team if they are gonna win this thing. The Bransens are kicking ass too. I love them. Lets hope for a three sister Maxim shoot after the race! |
I don't think those Bransen sisters are really that good looking....
What is up with 2 straight weeks without elimination? I know it's a 2 part episode, but that's just annoying. The Godlewskis are total bitches to that one sister. They pick on her until she cries, then pick on her for crying. Total bullies And how did they manage to go 7 or 8 seasons without draining car batteries, but then it happens twice in a week? They should let the victimized team jump ahead again. If I was eliminated because of that, I would be SOOOO pissed |
yeah, at least have them start at the same time as other teams and not be penalized with the delayed start.
|
The best part of the last nights show was the Old Faithful challenge. I was wondering if just one team would get screwed or would it be multiple teams. Watching the geyser go off in the distance must have been devastating.
And I guess we all know why Diehard isn't a sponsor. |
I agree those production errors are getting bad, I couldn't believe it when they had another one last night. They should get to jump ahead, it isn't like the production error was their fault.
What's up with the Weaver mom yelling at the Linz's that they wasted their yield? She seems to be getting nuttier every episode. The Weavers still can't figure out why they're hated, I hope after they watch the show they can figure it out, they've acted like asshats all show. |
One advantage of the non-elimination rounds, is that it jacks up the tension between the teams. The winning teams are just as frustrated as you are every time the last place team gets a break. These longer stretches allow for the competitors to get to know each other, making the race more personal, thus raising the stakes.
I don't mind the Non-E rounds at all. |
"You're supposed to yied to outgoing traffic"
"Well you're not supposed to be a psycho bitch, but I don't think either is going to happen" :D |

My god those editors know how to play with our emotions. I was so hoping the Godlewski's would make a last minute pass on the Weavers to make it into third place.
Bransens and Linz's are kicking ass, I'd be happy if either of these two win. |
one annoying family down, one to go. The sisters might have made it, if they hadn't spent so much time bitching at each other on the golf course. But those "carts" were kick-ass!
|

And those carts were wicked! The ones at a private golf course i've been to seem like toy cars compared to those |
I think the Godlewski's should have had a no holds barred fight at the end, they pissed and moaned the whole show, then they pissed and moaned in their final episode, I was actually happy they got eliminated now I don't have to listen to them arguing anymore.
From the preview next weeks show looks interesting, one of the LInz's saying Rolly Weaver is lucky he didn't break his arm, that would have been sweet, and of course old lady Weaver yelling don't you touch him. It was funny listening to the Weavers try and figure out who was the ugliest in their picture, I think they were all equally as ugly as the other, although the mother does have skin that loks like she could be from that time period, so she had that going for her. |
OMFG! They're coming to Canada next week! They don't say it, but If you watch next week's preview, you can clearly see a number of Toronto and Ontario locales:
Pearson Intl. Airport Spadina Subway Station The old Silos at Queen's Quay and Bathurst A Harbourfront area parking lot A Circus school - Probably at Harbourfront The 'Jet Boats' on the Niagara River in Niagara On The Lake A curling rink. This makes things much more exciting for me. I can yell at the TV "TURN LEFT YOU IDIOTS!" and so on. It's the 2 hour finale so check your listings.:) |
Damn, it would've been my chance to give people wrong directions!
Yonge street? See that sign that says Yonge street? That's wrong, you gotta go all the way down there. Close to 50 miles away. Go! Mush! |
I'm still for the Bransons, the Lenz's have grown on me though.
I'm glad the Deperate Housewives are gone, but if they were in the final three it may have erupted into an all out catfight by the time they finished...that would be classic TV... |

Fuck yeah! Weavers lost! Where was God on that one?!?!
I swear, the applause for the Weavers wasn't genuine. Oh, in other news, the Linzes won :D |
Yep, and the gambling spoiler is accurate for a second time. I wonder who tries to pull that stunt, crew members?
That shoe detour was rather strange. I can't really imagine asking dozens of women to try on shoes, but it must be a foot fetishist's dream. What an unflattering location to end the race, maybe fitting to the rest of it. But only wait two months and we'll have a brand new classic style season. I hope they change it up and go the other way around the world (eg to Asia first). |
Yeah, I like the show much more when they go all around the world.
That shoe detour was NUTS. I would imagine that it would take forever. My original plan for the ladder task was for the Linz guy to knock the Weaver kid off. Then I noticed the separate ladders |
I'm just glad the Weavers lost, its sad when the youngest (and male) is more mature than his 2 older sisters and Mom.
|
It's nice when the team you've been rooting for since episode 1 wins.
and in other news, the Bransen daughters still aren't hot |
Quote:
I respectfully disagree. I like them a lot. I would have been happy with either the Bransens or the Linzes winning the race so I am thrilled by the result. I was hoping the weavers would walk in to total silence. I bet they were instructed by the producers to clap politely. |
Quote:
Part one of your statement I totally agree. The Linz's were one of the teams I was rooting for the whole time because they seemed to be genuinely having fun along the way. Part two I cant agree with you at all. The Bransen daughters are damn hot. |
Quote:
Notice how they didn't show the Weavers doing the puzzle? I bet it would've taken them a whole episode to do it. |
i respect your respectful disagreement, but I really didn't think the Bransen's were that hot. The middle one was cute, but the tall one was too skinny and looked like her dad, and the youngest one didn't look a year older than 14 (though I know she's 18)
|
Well, you may not have thought they were hot, but the Linz boys sure had the hots for them. I wouldn't have been surprised if there had been a little camper swaping going on on those overnights
|
I don't think the Linz boys had much other choice. It was either pine after the Bransen daughters, or the Weaver daughters. *shudders*
|
I was satisfied with the ending. After the father and son-in-laws were eliminated, I was rooting for the Linzs. All told, I was satisfied by this version - likable winners, easy villians and they went to places I've been. The only place it seemed they skipped was Las Vegas (oh the potential for some of the women in showgirl outfits... )
Quote:
Weaver females - don't. Although I was thrilled at the possibility of the Weaver's quitting in Montreal, I got a new found respect for Rolly (sp?). He has a winner's attitude. If I were to give individual awards to the best individuals competitors in this series: Gold: Rolly Silver: Wally Bronze: tie the little kids (brother and sister) Wally and the kids held their own when they were well behind the rest of their team. |
Actually, I was hoping that the Weavers would have been the first ones at the finish line. You know why? Because at the "drive the golf carts to the stadium" challenge, the clue clearly stated "you must remain in your golf cart" while searching for the entrance. The Weavers got out of their cart and walked around a barrier to look at a directory. So if they would have ariived first and then been assesed a time penalty and then lost, it would have been suwheet! :D

So did they preview next season? Are they back to the around the world 2-person race? I went to bed as soon as the Lenz's crossed the finish line. |

Yes, they did preview next season. Back to pairs, 5 continents, 60,00 miles, etc. |
I missed the teaser for the new season, my PVR has been acting wonky and switched channels on me for no reason.
I'll have to see if I can find it on the web. I'm looking forward to the new season though. I can't believe I only got into this show with season 4! |
