FFVII Advent Children... again... but this is good!
I know there is a thread or two on this subject but mine is to give a heads up.
There has been DVD leaked of the movie. I have watched it... and it is amazing. (And thats without any english subtitles. All audio is in the original 5.1 Japanese. I have heard that there are subtitles around though/coming.) I don't want to give anything away... so that is all that I will say! For those of you in the know, check it out... for those of you that aren't... sorry, here is not the place to ask where to get it! Hope you all enjoy! Cheers!

Yep, I have seen it already too.
The fight scenes are so sick. I am so pumped that they had Cloud use Omi-Slash. I kinda wish I knew what they were saying during the talking parts but I don't regret seeing it early.

Ya I watched it without subs the first time... didn't get much of the story... but it was easy to remember who was who from the game. I love listening to japanese though... its such a great language... anyways,
The story is pretty cool. The CG is just amazing. I actually prefer having Japanese... I find so much is lost (IMO) when crossed over to english... especially if they try and have a wow factor using some lame celebrities :P. Check it out though peeps! Cheers!

Partly from the other thread:
That was extremely disappointing. I'm a HUGE FF7 fan, but I have a hard time even considering that good, much less the godsend to gaming like most people I've heard talk about it. The plot was basically non existant and the fight scenes were so fast that they had no structure. Hell, the entire movie had no structure. I think I agree with Penny Arcade for once: it was a huge fan service with good graphics. I swear Square-Enix hired 13 year olds that wrote FF7 fan fiction to do this. Spoiler: When Sephiroth came back I was cringing. Here's hoping for a proper FF7 sequel in game format. I will agree that it had extremely good graphics though, but I hated nearly every action scene. I liked seeing the FF7 characters, but again, the movie felt way too jumbled up and unstructured for me to enjoy it. -Lasereth

Quit frankly, I couldn't even watch this movie through in one sitting. Once the ohh, ahh factor of the CGI wears off (long, long before the movie ended for me) there isn't anything here to keep this movie interesting. The plot wasn't there, the fight scenes were confusing and I'm so incredibly tired of Matrix style slow down effects. They were cool, now it's over used, please get a new trick. Even as someone who loved the FF7 game, I can't, in good conscious, recommend this movie.

I saw it, and I loved it. It's eye candy, plain and simple. It wasn't written by Hironobu Sakaguchi, who probably thought he closed up the story well enough that it didn't warrant a new story line. So already you can't expect the story to be anything more than "Hey, watch your favorite characters kick the crap out of this new bad guy!" But I think they did a pretty good job bringing up a new conflict, considering the game's story was "kill Sephiroth, repel meteor, and save the world". They killed Sephiroth. Holy repelled meteor. The world was saved. Pretty cut and dry. Do you expect the movie to show Tifa's struggle to get a liquor license for 7th Heaven or Cloud fighting to put coversheets on TPS reports? Of course they're going to introduce a problem that can be resolved in a 90 minute movie.
I thought the fight scenes were awesome. I'm so glad they didn't try to ground the characters' moves in reality. To see them doing incredible things in the game, then doing nothing more than standard martial arts in the movie would have been a big letdown. Seeing Cloud using Blade Beam and Omnislash, and even Barret using Big Shot, was great. I don't see why a lot of people are jumping at the chance to complain about it. It's a fun movie and the cg is beautiful. I'd recommend this to any fan of Final Fantasy, just don't walk into it on a high horse.
