He was a human from Bree. You can see him, ever so briefly, as the camera moves past him in the street as the hobbits arrive in Bree. |
a small theatrical role usually performed by a well-known actor and often limited to a single scene; broadly : any brief appearance ....from merriamwebster.com
I don't think it has to be uncredited, but I think they often are, such as John Malkovich's couple of scenes in "Alive". |

Don't know if it's truly considered a cameo, but Brad Pitt as the stoner roomate of michael rappaport in true romance.
|
That would qualify as a cameo...

Steve Buscemi in The Wedding Singer. He's hilarious.

Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright (Star and Director of Shawn of the Dead) in George A. Romero's 2005 Land of the Dead. Excellent cameo appearance!

Ben Stiller in Happy Gilmour would have to be one of my favourite cameos ever. |
I wouldn't call Buscemi or Schnieders rolls in ALL the Sandler movies cameos. They're part of his troupe now. For instance, in Mr. Deeds, Buscemi was in more than a couple of scenes. Billy Madison, that was a cameo. Schnieder too. When he's in there as supporting cast, not a cameo, ie Big Daddy. The Longest Yard, Sandler's regular troupe wasn't in there. When I saw Schnieder, I was surprised. That was a cameo.
The best kind of cameos are the ones like Pitt and Damon in Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, or Sarah Michelle Gellar in She's All That. No lines, just the nod of a head. Sometimes they get annoying, like the old-tv-show-to-movie movies, that have the original cast members showing up for some stupid reason, Starsky and Hutch having the worst one. I didn't have to watch SWAT on TV, or know the actors, to pick out the cameos. |
